Dxdiag 64bit shows wrong VRAM?
Hey guys,
I've got a problem: I have a gtx 680 with 4gb vram, but when I open dxdiag 64bit it says that my gpu has only 1.7 gb Vram. However if I open dxdiag 32bit it shows the correct number of Vram (4095 mb). If I play, for example, bf4 (64bit) I often get dx errors. Some people say they're caused by a lag of ram/Vram. Is it usual that dxdiag 64bit shows wrong Vram? Could this be my problem?
Thanks for any help :)

dxdiag is rarely correct

use gpuz
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

what driver ver are you using?
gpuz shows 4gb vram. I'm using the R331.82. How can it be that dxdiag shows wrong information? Isn't it a part of the OS?

Ive actually gotten some dx errors as well with BF3 and now with BF4, really starting to annoy me and is making me consider formatting to see if it would fix it.

Before i got Win7 id format every 6 months or more to keep things fresh.. i havent done that ever since id gotten Win7 lol.

In any case, not sure why 64bit would be showing different VRAM..

Have you tried lowering your graphic settings a little bit? im able to play BF4 on Full Ultra @ 2xMSAA and i only have a 660 Ti @ 1920x1080. I Turned the Lighting graphics settings to Low as i dont care for lighting and shadows(especially shadows) and since then i havent had any problems.

You could give that a try and see what happens.
I've already tried thousands of tweaks and lowering the settings, believe me. Everything works in a small window mode, but I want to play fullscreen. Did you have the device removed or the device hung error?

You mean the display driver crashed error? ive never actually seen the error, but im sure thats been one of the issues along with the DX problem.

Whats your GPUs temps when playing BF4? high temps can cause the display driver to hang/crash also.

So there wasn't a window showing you the error?
mmmmm.. not that i recall, no..
Maybe it wasn't a dx error? just bf4 has stopped working?
dont think so, only problems ive had was with the DX Error and possibly the display driver crashing which in turn might have caused BF4 to stop working.. but even with the DX error BF4 was still running till i clicked it.

But thats pretty much it..

im about to play it, if i come across any problems again ill post it.
