Don't OC your GPU if you can't cool it properly. The heat around PCI slots also increase the overall temperature inside the case, affecting all hardware inside .
You have probably over volted it causing instability and a blue screen. (You need to explain what you see when it "stops working"). What graphics card are you using? What is your power supply? Do some internet research, you'll find out what is wrong.
Cpu: Amd 8320
Gpu: Xfx 7950
Psu: Cx750
Mobo: Asus m5a99fx pro r2.0
Memory: Corsair vengeance
As for what I see (or what happens) at a certain point it just closes the program being used
(i.e Heaven) and then I just have to start task manager and end the program and start again
Ps. if you need to know more about my specs just ask, also don't say nuthin bout me runnin AMD :P
You may also have already factory overclocked card that would not take big overclocks.
Also every chip is different, some chip maybe just cant take much overclocking at all.
When buying any chip whether it be a CPU or a GPU you play the sillicone lottery. This is basically a metaphor for not all chips are the same and some overclock much more well than others. It might be the case that your chip can't go higher than 1000MHz, and in that case you will have to stick with it I'm afraid. Look at the voltages, look at the AMD website and find out the original core clock. It could have had a core clock of 925MHz to begin with and might have been OCd to 1000MHz by the manufacturer.
