EVGA PSU to GPU cables
So, I'm upgrading from my GTX 1070 to a RTX 3070. My mobo and PSU are compatible and everything looks good. However, I can't seem to find my extra cables that came with my PSU (EVGA 850 G3 Supernova). I remember having extra PCIe cables, and according to the manual it came with additional 8 pin PCIe cables. I need a second one since the 3070 needs 2 and my 1070 only uses 1.

So on to my question, when looking for cables on Amazon to find a replacement if I'm unable to find mine, there are some off-brands that distinguish between 18 and 16 AWG and have different amp ratings. I can't find out this information on EVGA's website, but other places say my PSU comes.with 18 AWG cables. Does this matter when buying a cable other that sturdiness, and which amp ratings should I be looking at for the cables?

Don't use off-brands. Just buy the cables from EVGA.
I didn't know this was possible as it didn't come up in searches for cables. Do you happen to have a link or know where I can get them directly from EVGA? Their page for my PSU didn't have any info about buying replacements on it. Thanks!

Here you go: https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=101-CK-0850-B9

And here is the complete list (non-80 Plus though): https://www.evga.com/products/productlist.aspx?type=10&family=Power+Supplies&chipset=Cable
Thanks! I completely missed they have a storefront on their home site. Appreciate it.

even across different models of the same brand may have them pinned differently

get the correct cables from cablemod, be sure to include the psu brand/model and year

Yeah, I have all that info, but when I was finding them they had options for both AWG 16 and 18 and it was throwing me off. I'm just going to get them direct from EVGA per the above posts. Thanks though!

Well I guess I asked too soon, just found my cables. I packed them with my board games apparently, haha. Just moved so everything is kinda chaos.

just because it plugs in, does not mean it will work

Well the cables I have are the ones that came with the PSU from EVGA, so if they don't work it's because they're faulty cables, not because they're not the correct type of cable.

If you don't have the original cables then buy some cables using CableMod website and choose the correct model of PSU

if you want to test it with a multimeter, playtool site has good pics of all the connectors and pinouts

for future reference the higher the number the thinner the cable/wire/flexibility and
therefore 16awg would handle more amp and normally be the better choice for a higher
end card.
