AMD HD5970 Radeon HD 5970 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 for $7 at goodwill contimplating puting it into my computer.

Ok so i baught this graphics card for $7 at goodwill and i am worried it is going to blow up my gaming computer or somthing. Everything looks fine.

It will be a BIG upgrade from a gtx 550 ti to this new gpu. is there any way i can cheak if it works without puting it into my gaming computer? Please and thanks you :)

I have a antec 25 650 watt psu and the graphics card minumum is 650 watts -_- .

It is 'possible' it's the card. Must be some reason it was only $7. But the driver can also cause what you describe.

The GPU doesn't work. Artifacting in every game you play is a sign that it's at the end of its life. Some troll decided to donate his broken GPU to Goodwill.

Did you not read his post? He said it's not happening in any other games besides Skyrim. I'm sure one of the reasons that it was so cheap is because they most likely didn't have a way to test it plus they probably didn't really know what it was.

no no it started doing it for allmost every other game.... but i pretty sure it is a driver issue because the one guy said you need to uninstall all nvidia drivers and i have not yet... could that be the problem ? and also i have not yet to really intall a driver for the gpu only windows has so i have no gpu config...

If you DID NOT Uninstall ALL Nvidia drivers INCLUDING PhysX that is most likely your problem.

I did and he goes on to say that it does it for every game. I also wasn't speaking about the price. I was speaking about the donation, some troll didn't know what to do with it so probably gave it to Goodwill.

Ok so i did what he said and it was doing it like 100% more worse and it overheated so bad that my windows shut down. So in conclution i will just haft to stay with my 550 ti because i just don't have the fans for the graphics card and it has issues. But i am getting the money back from my firend because he wants to buy it and put it on his shelf or somthing XD Nothing better than displaying Expensive electronics


really i could probably sell it on creigslist for more but i really hate screwing people over. It really shows you haft to have the computer to run one of these things because i have like 6 or 7 fans on my computer and it was overheating.really for $7 the graphics were amazing untill it started to overheat and "artifacted like a boss"
