Laptop won't recognise WPA2-PSK on occasion
Hi, I'm having problems with my wireless connection- it's extremely unstable. The security type is set to WPA2-PSK on the router, but my computer thinks it's WEP. Fairly often when I start up my computer it won't connect to anything automatically, saying the settings saved do not match the requirements for the network. I try deleting the connection under Manage wireless networks and manually create a new network profile, and this sometimes fixes it. But having to do this every time I load up my laptop is a pain.

I have a Ralink RT3090 802.11n wifi adapter, driver version 5.0.21.0 (which according to my computer is up-to-date)

Thanks!

You could try setting your router to WEP, see if your laptop recognizes it then try setting it back.

I've tried fiddling around with different security types before and unfortunately the problems still persist :(

Wireless is very dependent on signal strength and lack of interference. Move the laptop closer to the router. Make sure the router doesn't have any sources of interference close to it.

UberFiend- both are enabled, tried setting SSDP to automatic but no difference on startup

rotNdude- I'm not sure whether this is an issue of signal strength- it seems to be a good connection when it does work. Once it realises it has the right security type it works fine, but that takes a while.

If I leave it about 5-10 mins after startup something kicks in and it connects. I probably should have mentioned it's a dual band router. Apparently a Virgin 'Superhub 2'
