GTX 760 or R9 270X?

Well I don't know too much about the AMD card, however I've got a GTX 760 and I'm very pleased. More games are optimized for NVIDIA than for AMD. However, I would do a GPU Boss comparison of the two.

Either 1 will do the trick, but chances are people are gonna suggest the R9.

Its pretty much hit or miss with either 1, but according to this http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1043?vs=1038 the 760 is better in most games.

You can't go wrong with either card they are both excellent value and they'll both play any game you throw at it very respectibly. Which card performs better usually depends on whether the game is optimized for nvidia or for amd. I have also heard that the 270X is much better if you plan on gaming above 1080p.

GTX 760 is same class in performance as HD 7950.
R9 270X is just renamed HD 7870 and in same class as GTX 660.

I think you mean the 270X not the 290X is a newer HD7870. The 290X is a brand new GPU. Also there is nothing wrong with a HD7870 anyway, it was a good card.
There really isnt a huge difference in the price to performance between the 270X and the 760. If you have the little extra money for a 760 then go for it!

Yea, I have the EVGA 760 with 4gigs, excellent card. The only bad thing is that the 760 has the same chip as the 600 series cards, so while it's a new series, the 760 has the older 600 series chip. The AMD card is probaley pretty good, but no GPU phsyx support and AMD drivers have given me issues in the past. I am a GTX fan boy tho... lol

GTX 760 would be better, however you could probably find a cheap 7950 for slightly cheaper. The 760 and 7950 are similar at stock, but overclocked the 7950 turns into a monster.

Nope, all HD 7950 HD 7970 and most R9 280X are all out of stock right now, or last time I check. Previously though you could find a HD 7950 for as low as $180 sometimes.

Yeah all AMD cards are being bought up like hotcakes because people use them for cryptocurrency mining, hard to get a good deal on them now.
