Modular PSU or just normal one?

Modular power supplies are slightly less efficient, a little more expensive and their connecters start to loosen over time with heavy use.

...But it's mostly personal preferance. I always buy non-modular, I'm not worried about cable clutter and appearance isn't important to me.

Ive seen no evidence of Modular PSU's being worse than non modular ones.

Modular PSU's come in handy if you want to lessen the clutter in your case.
i have a 750w Ultra X4 Modular PSU that ive had for about 2 years now and it works great.

Really comes down to how much you are wanting to spend. PSU quality is VERY important for gaming so you dont want to go all cheapybrand hunting.

Modular all the way for me.
I haven't had any loss in efficiency due to it being modular ever lol.
I have a Seasonic 860 watt Platinum certified modular PSU and it rocks.
The cables all work well and i have never had one instance of them getting loose. In fact the only time i have had to ever replace my PSU's was the need for more wattage. There is alot more to less clutter than visual appeal as well. The better you route your cables the better the airflow inside the case will be.

Post what PSUs you're considering and what case you're going to install it in. I have a very spacious full tower case and I really don't care about cables restricting air flow.

You should buy modular PSU if you want a transparent window on the side of case :) Just for good look. But also you can hide extra wires beside the MoBo.

modular makes cable management easier
if you only have 1hdd, 1 odd, and a gpu
only plug in 1 sata chain, and the gpu cable
keep the rest of the cables in the box

when you need more molex/sata/pci power connectors, use the extra cables

Go for a Semi modlar power supply and save abit of money and spend it on geting a better power supply.

Go with modular if you can because cable management will be cleaner.
