It depends for what you use your PC. Since you are here on Steam, I assume gaming takes a good percentage of your PC time. Also if you game, you focus always on the newest or are you somebody with nostalgy for older games?
Win 7 will have probably a better compatbility with older games. Win 8 has appreantly a faster start and some more modern features.
But that faster start can be achived with a SSD disc as well, on any Windows.

I don't see a point to upgrading it.
Maybe if I was building a new PC I might get w8.1 for it.

No point to upgrade unless you have the 32-bit version of Win 7.

i've recently upgraded to win 8.1, having no problems apart from the occasional unknown freeze that some people have experienced. gaming is good and seems a little faster imo

Windows 8.1 is great, but I don't see a point is upgrading to 8/8.1 unless you're someone that's on vista or older.

Unless you require features that Win8 has theres really no need to upgrade.

Win7 is still the best and most stable modern OS.

Windows 8.1 improves gaming GPU performance compared to Windows 7, especially in Battlefield 4. If you want more features, such as pooling data and apps between Windows devices using Skydrive, and better graphics performance, then upgrade to Windows 8.1. Be sure to update all your drivers, though.
