Horizontal lines on monitor during gaming
I recently got a new graphics card (GTX 760) for my computer rig, it runs fine but during some games i see faint horizontal lines going up and or down my screen. Its not a big issue but it is annoying.
My Rig:
8gigs of DDR3 RAM
EVGA GTX 760 GPU
Intel I3 3220 CPU
500 Watt PSU
My old graphics card which was a EVGA GTX 650 did not have this problem. I have surfed the web and some say its my monitor and some say its my PSU. Some of the games i have really noticed this problem are
Infestation: Survivor Stories
Arma 3
The Secret World
I can really see them badly when it is dark ingame.
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

That would be known as screen tearing and runt frames.

You get rid of it by using vsync and triple buffering.

I googled screen tearing and this is a photo that came up

That is not my problem that i am having. Im having dozens of horizontal staticy lines going up and down my screen. It seems to come up on more graphically demanding games.

What I would recommend is installing the old card again and see if the problem persists and if it doesn't then you can bet it's the graphics card or the psu. What brand/model is your psu?

The GTX 760 uses 170watts, while your old GTX 650 uses 65watts. Your psu might not be up to the task of supplying enough power for the upgraded card.

also do you have the latest drivers ?...if so try rolling them back to an earlier version to see if that changes anything...

don't reinstall the latest drivers , go back to the older drivers to see if that solves the problem..

however that PSU is a POS... i bet it can barely handle 400 watts , so yeah if reinstalling older drivers don't work for you , it's a safe bet that the PSU just can't handle the power needed for that card when it really starts working.

So basically i should invest in a higher wattage PSU?

better quality..there are plenty , i would grab a 600 , it'll give you a nice headroom for later if you want to start adding HDD's etc... PSU usually outlast other components by quite a bit.

seasonic , corsair are some brands , but there are lots of good ones out there...

if you think you see one you liek , do a google search on it for a review , tomshardware and some other sites do some nice in depth reviews of PSU's and then you know if it's any good or not.

How is your card hooked up to your monitor? I'm thinking you're using analog (DVI-I) instead of digital (DVI-D, HDMI, DisplayPort). Try using a different cable or connection on the card.

I'm sure that is the problem. You should be on a digital connection. I've seen what you describe when I hooked a TV to my PC with VGA.
