"DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL" error when playing Steam games

I keep getting this error with a blue screen and a :( whenever I play games from my laptop to a monitor or a tv. It only occurs when playing games via Steam, no other time. Can anyone help? (Sorry if this is the wrong place to post)

That error is almost always due to a driver of some sort. Does the blue screen error point to a certain file? Such as a .DLL or .SYS file?

Try updating all your hardware device drivers to the latest.

i just updated my video card drivers and that seemed to fix the issue. I managed to play a game of dota without a crash so it looks like that fixed it
