If u want to play most DX/OGL games, especially on a laptop, then it needs to have a dedicated Radeon or NVIDIA GPU to run games even remotely well.
Not saying u can't run games on the Intel HD, but u will most likely have to turn all the in-game visuals down low and maybe even lower the screen resolution in-game to allow for a smooth enough FPS that is playable.
As far as what can u play? Well mostly older games that do not require a hefty GPU for one. Alot of the Indie games as well as most of the Valve Source games don't require too much GPU power to run well.
What brand & model of laptop is it?
Integrated graphics are not meant for gaming, and AAA titles are not designed for that sort of hardware. As the above poster mentioned, source engine games will do OK, as will many indie games. You won't be playing any of the "latest and greatest" with very high graphics settings or resolution.
If you wanna a tiny shiny brand new ultrabook, look closer to models with HD4000, 4400, 4600 graphics on the board.
At least this ones will allow u to play in most games (i.e. modern i.e. AAA and i.e. graphic-intensive)... at low settings likely.
