GTX 770Ti vs. GTX 780Ti is the upgrade worth the $$

im buying a new computer and i can afford to get the 780ti but if its really not worth it in proformance or the cost differance, im not up to just wasting money. please post what you guys think! thanks! :D

ATM there is no GTX 770 Ti. NVIDIA has one in the works, but again not available yet.

What do plan on using a new GPU for?

i ment GTX 770.
ill have AMD's 4.0 GPU
600w - 750w power supply, 16gb RAM, SSD 250-500gb (have not desided)
Windows 8.1
1,800 - 2,000 $ (not upgrading hole new PC)

The 780 Ti gets about 20+ fps extra over the 770 depending on the game. You should wait for the NVIDIA 800 series. The performance jump will be much higher & the cards will have newer tech.

770 is good to run games with one screen at 1080p on ultra settings. If you plan on running multiple monitors or higher res than 1080p then I'd go the 780 ti or wait for the 800 series within the next 3 months.

I highly doubt Nvidia will release the 800 series anytime soon. The 780ti is currently the king in gaming and if AMD doesn't release any GPU that can outperform it there is no reason for Nvidia to rush the 800 series.

Doesn't matter that the 780 Ti recently released, the roadmap states NVIDIA is slated to release the 800 series sometime between Feb - April. There are already laptops with GT/GTX 800 series in them, so it won't be long now.

They are already here; in laptops anyways.

Just like we saw the Radeon 8000 series popping up in laptops, then not very long after, here came the R-series (R7, R9) Desktop GPUs.

Nvidia is just going to release neutered 800 series cards until they're threatened by AMD just as they did with the 700 series. So if I were you I would wait further than that. AMD will respond to it soon after and that's when the true 800 series cards will launch.

As for the 780ti, if you really want to upgrade I don't think you'd regret it. You will easily notice the difference. I love mine. I upgraded to it from a standard 780 with Evga's step-up program so I just had to pay a $50 price difference. Amazing overclocker, low power consumption. great temps.
