Is Windows 7 better with Direct X 11 and drivers than 8.1?
I am thinking of going back to Windows 7 to help with system crashes. I am currently running Windows 8.1 and my system crashes after playing any game that uses Direct X 11. The games run great and we can play them for hours and hours, mostly Batman Arkham Origins and Saints Row IV right now. However after we shut the game down the system will lock up, blue screen with the frown face on it cause we're all 12, and we have a hard time getting it to boot back up. This does not happen with non Direct X 11 games or anything else we do with the system.

After reading some other forms I'm pretty sure it's and issue between Win 8.1 and graphics drivers however the only solution seems to be "Wait until Mircosoft or Nvidia to put out new drivers".

Does anyone have experience with Win 7 and Direct X 11? Does it sound like this would fix my issue? I like Win 7, I would just rather spend that $130 on something else if I can help it.

win 7 64bit here and also directx crashes (only bf4)

Yes because they have not yet fixed BF4. ATM it is utter crap on PC.
I have it and I have multiple OS', doesn't matter, BF4 just random crashes. Meanwhile everything else running fine, so yea crappy game atm is all I can say.

Actually, i would get DX Crashes with BF3 also, but lately i havent had any problems with BF4 ever since a patch or 2 ago, but i also would get DX errors now n then on BF4..

To the OP, id say stick with Win7. its perfectly stable and a perfectly good OS.
Only reason to goto Win8 is if you need any of the features that it offers.

I went back to Windows 7 this past weekend and it fixed all my issues. I still own Windows 8 so if they or nvidia or whom ever the hell needs to fix their software figures it out I can go back.

what motherboard do you have?you likely needed a bios update because the current version of your bios was not compatiable with windows 8.1..I ran into that problem before "random bsod frowny face" and a bios update fixed it..other things that could have caused it would be a unstable overclock, faulty hard drive or your power supply wasnt putting out enough power..however all of those scenarios are unlikely since going back to windows 7 fixed your problem.
