PhysX and mixing GPU brands
I have an old GTX 970 collecting dust and I was curious if it's possible to use that GPU exclusively for PhysX processing while I use an AMD 9070 XT for playing games. Can this be done? Would the drivers or hardware even play nice together?

yes

as long as the mobo has 2x x16 length slots it will work
assign the 970 as dedicated physx in nvidia control panel

Is this AI? That isn't even a reply to what I said nor is it directly a reply to what I replied to......
No I'm just saying installing a second GPU on some motherboards will decrease the speed of the primary GPU even if itself is not using much bandwidth like a card only used for PhysX, even if its idle some mobos will cut PCIe lanes from the first just from the second card being present.

Ok, and?

This isnt a practical issue for anybody on a modern platform such as 50 series owners.
