as long as the mobo has 2x x16 length slots it will work
assign the 970 as dedicated physx in nvidia control panel
Sweet. I do in fact have the space for that. I'll give it a try when my 9070 arrives. tyvm.
But yes install the 9070 XT into a PCIE 4.0 or 5.0 top-most slot closest to CPU.
Then install the GTX 970 into a lower PCIE X16 full length slot.
Install both sets of latest AMD and NVIDIA GPU Drivers (if need be, 566.36 is fine for GTX cards) and then once both are installed and rebooted the PC, configure the AMD and NVIDIA control panels. Obviously setting NVIDIA CP > PhysX = GTX 970 and then click APPLY
The AMD card have better value for money it seems, compared to nvidia.
Using the old nvidia GPU & hopefully widespread use of fsr 4 could mean the best of both worlds for less cash.

just bad advice......gamers nexus video proves a 580 will work with a 5090.......
I can confirm it does indeed work. I didn't like how close my GTX 970 was sitting to my 9070 XT due to not enough air reaching my 9070 XT fans. Fortunately I have a Montech King case and after ordering 2 more 140mm fans, I was able to change my fan configuration in a way where I can blast cool air between the GPUs and keep my 9070 XT at normal operating temps.
So for anyone wanting to try it out just make sure you have the extra space in your case for an additional GPU and airflow.
You all listen to that nut job of a youtuber. Pfffft whatever. HES A JOKE of everyone in the Tech Industry.
Only a complete idiot would even want to use a 580. Something that uses like double the power of a 980. For how old and slow a 580 is, a GTX 950 could do PhysX just as well and it's also a tiny card with tiny power requirements
you still miss the point....it works....nothing else about your posted ego matters.....and its beyond funny you want me to listen to you when you cant even post something on yourtube that disproves anything.......because everything back to the 400 series works......oops......
it does not matter what choice is made.....if someone has a older card laying around anything back to the 400 series would work......but let me guess you would tell me it was a bad idea to run a 2gb 560 with a 8800gt as phsyx GPU when it worked fine for me for almost 4 years......
oh and by the way no one needs 2 16 slots to run it.....you only need 4 PCI-E lanes for the physx card......
