Wait for Windows “12” or just go with Windows 11
Since Windows 11 has been available for a couple of years now and there are rumors of Windows 12 coming in 2024, I'm wondering if it's a good time to upgrade to Windows 11 for gaming. What are your experiences with Windows 11 for gaming, and do you think I should make the upgrade or wait for Windows 12 next year? I’m still currently on Windows 10 haven’t bothered with PC settings to let it upgrade to Windows 11.

As far as i know Microsoft will wait with Windows 12 until everybody has migrated to 11. So i would not hold my breath for 12.

Where do get this BS info from?
Win11 overall EOL is almost over already.

If you haven't installed Win11 yet, just install or stay on 10.
There are no benefits to installing 11 worth noting.
In less then 1 year from now we'll have Win12 in-hand.
If that turns out to be an issue (since we know it won't be free at all) then make the switch to Win11 if that makes sense at that time.

Only real reasons to use Win11 right now as we speak is if you have very latest hardware (as the very latest of Intel and AMD CPUs don't function to their fullest on Win10 compared to 11)

I have no idea from where you have pulled that information from but 11 isn't certainly not dead and in fact its getting a LTSC release

I understand that but that doesn't extend the EOL for Win11 Home/Pro
Problem is if on older hardware windows 12 might be a lot more restrictive than even what 11 was so yeah..
gotta love the alpha testers of win 11, thx guys keep at it

There is no date announced about Windows 11's EoL just yet. it will likely be around late 2031 or early 2032 as usually Windows OSes are supported for about 10 years after their original release.
even Windows 8.1 which was barely used by anyone was still supported until Jan 2023.
Again I never expressed a date about Win11 EOL.
But again if you have a working Win10 already, just stay on it, what's the rush.
Especially if not upgrading to hardware that benefits from Win11 anytime soon.
Let Win12 come out, as it won't be long now, then you could then make a choice on what to upgrade if needed and whether to go with Win11 or 12.

If you are on Win7/8 just install a new blank SSD and install Win10 to that for now to keep moving forward. Otherwise sit that system aside and build a new one.
Instead of introducing buggy Windows versions every now and then, Microsoft has to abandon W11 and release those updates for W10. Those security measures like TPM can already be dodged in Win11, so that's not an issue.

Of course, this type of continuous support needs to be supported by the users. It can be solved by "renewing the Windows License in every 10 years". The renewing price can be half of the original key purchase. Hence, customers won't have to be screwed by wonky Windows versions periodically, and Microsoft would be getting enough funding from the users. Those who don't renew the license, will still be able to use their OS but with dropped support, like current Win7 users.

the eol for win11 is only for 21h2 22h2 is still getting support plus 23h2 is out soon
I'd go with: Boycott huge conglomerates and urinate on Ballmer's grave.
I wouldn't wait. There are rumours that 12 will have a monthly subscription. You might want to hang on to 11 as long as possible.

That was already proven to be some Onion bs, the subscription rumor is completely unrelated to Windows 12.

Microsoft would be shooting themselves in the foot by putting Windows behind a subscription-based system for average consumers. Windows 10 and 11 can be installed and used for free, the ISOs are available on their site and users can upgrade for free through Windows Update.

^ Yea believe that and I'll tell you another one.

This is how lies spread. You hear some rumor from some idiot on YT that for some reason you all trust and now all of a sudden it's a fact of things to come.

And also do not believe most of what you hear from Wccftech
They are a leader in Tech BS rumor-spreading.

Wouldn't make sense to charge a sub-fee for WinOS. If they were that greedy they wouldn't give you access to all those games via Xbox Game Pass. Charging a sub-fee-plan for WinOS would be like MS standing in public with their pants down, telling everyone in the world to stop using them and move over to Linux. Cause that's exactly what would happen. It would even turn folks like Game Devs away from WinOS. Yea, essentially Business Suicide. Not to mention a world-wide Tech Stocks fallout.
Pretty much all of the articles that jumped on the topic immediately should be called out for their poor journalistic practices because they didn't care about the validity of the claims or anything, they only cared about getting clicks.
I also don't like it cause it's scaring people (not just gamers) away from WinOS PC in general which is sad. Now sure, couldn't hurt for more people to learn and use Linux but many of the older folks who've been using WinOS (or using a PC since DOS) aren't going to be ones to quickly just move over to Linux.
