If you are wiping your butt with $100 bills and lighting your cigarettes with $20, then go for the OLED. Otherwise give it a pass for gaming.
They don't burn in as easy as the used to, so they are fine for daily use, but when gaming, you will have the same icons or bars on screen in the same spot for hours at a time, so burn in become a real problem.
I have multiple oled screens:
- 4k 60hz 13"
- ps vita
- iPhone
- 2k 1800p 120hz laptop
- S95b at home
No burn in yet despite the fact all these devices have been in use for at least 4+ years. Except the notebook.
But with that said I intentionally didn't upgrade my iPad Pro when Apple introduced the tandem stack oled screen because I do regular painting and 3d sessions on mine. It would develop permanent image retention in less than a year.
In the end I get why people are hesitant but if you want crisp image quality then there is nothing that comes close. My brother owns a big Sony mini led and once he tested my s95b he sold that and got himself a qd oled.
has zero resale value.you'd be out of your mind to buy a used oled monitor or tv.
as far as blacks go if you can find a ips brand with no BLB the blacks are much better than
most think.ive found 1 brand that has no BLB at least with the 4 of them i have purchased.
but if you dont mind buying a new throw away monitor every few years.sure why not
go oled.
I have a tcl 55 something something and some months ago they did a 34" 21:9 monitor woth the same panel or better.
No idea mate, but i'll check for you.
they are fine, its just more of them, and requires less cooling for them so they will not burn out as easily at 90+% brightness
the backlight method will not change motion blur or anything like that
its the controller/main board that can do strobing, or ulmb or similar to flash the leds off while pixels are changing colors to make it appear more responsive
again, done with any kind of led backlit display and panel type
But the new tcl

seems a very good pick it's like coming close to an oled but without burn in and the only thing that will burn is your eyes because of it's peak brightness. The only thing i don't understand if this is an it's own panel or is a mini led IPS or VA or something
Maybe im based because i like the TCL 55QM8B TV Mini LED 55” i just bought some months ago.
