Good quality inexpensive pc speakers
Question to audio experts, are there somewhat good quality speakers under 50$? I'm not looking for home theater, just a basic speakers with audible bass and enough volume for games/movies. By audible I mean audible, not necessarily a cinema level earthquake that would wake up my neighbors. Are any of these good enough for an average user:
- real-el s-250
- f&d a110
- microlab m300
- defender aurora s20

Explain why its junk. Its like saying that monitors under 240hz are junk. I'm not going to buy speakers than cost half of my gpu. Especially given that I live in a country with ♥♥♥♥ economy where average salary is around $500

Usually the amp or the speaker cone cant handle high volume. It will start to produce crackling sound.

Why does "I want speakers" have to mean "high volume"? There's plenty of other reasons to go with external speakers over headphones (or worse, monitor speakers)

Idk what you expect from a 50$ speaker, but quality often comes with a price
I had small 11w usb spekaers and there was no crackling athigh volume when plugged into a phone charger

If that works for you, why bother getting a new speaker? No one knws what's good enough for you.

Because they died after 3 months of use

so basically similar issue with what i mentioned before, it cant handle electrical stress well. Most cheap speakers will have this issue

never seen a 3.5 to RCA Y cable have you???.....my sony CD player came with one in 1991.....
that probably wasnt a y cable, but an attenuator cable, converting the speaker level output to rca line level for use with home stereo equipment

pc jacks can output line or speaker level

any larger speakers powered from usb is going to sound like crap
usb 2.x can only output 5v @ 2a = 10w max to both speakers and sub if it has one
and also needs to do lfe processing/filtering

at around $100 look for a sound bar
most are also junk since the speakers are so small, but if you find one with a powered sub it should do the job good enough

ones like this might not be bad, but no way its little wallwort is 200w, and sub is passive not powered

no....CD player had 2 3.5 jacks....one line level and the headphone......it does not change the fact the Y cables have been around for decades......
I want to clarify another thing: what happens if I buy speakers with integrated amplifier? Will they use it instead of motherboard amp?

yes ,plus the amp on the MB is more like a headphone amp , it's not really a full fledged amp that can power anything decent , this is why PC speakers (more then a few watts) usually still use a intergrated amp that's in one of the speakers or in the subwoofer box.

for pc use only I would be perfectly fine with the Logitech Z200 2.0 speakers. Pebble Pro and Edifier G2000 were other options I considered.
In the end I put in some extra cash and got the Edifier MR4 Studio monitors.

I do live in a flat so a sub is not really in favor of my neighbors. plus more cables to manage... ugh

Z200 have too weak specs for their price. Only 10w and very small cones. Pebbles would be better, but they don't sell it in my country

There are videos featuring that Microlab speaker and it's not too bad at all: :chirp:

It's impossible to tell if it's bad or good by watching on a monitor with integrated sound. Also people tend to dislike plastic staellites for some reason. That's why I'm unsure what to choose
I am sorry to have attempted to help you and to thus waste my own time, time that I do not have.
