Id 41 (63) Kernel power error
Hardware

CPU: AMD R3 1300X

GPU: R9 380

PSU: Quite good and expensive bought last month 700w Bronze.( more than enough for my pc)(tested with other PSU's)

RAM: 16GB (tested with new ram problem still happens)

Motherboard: Prime A320M-K

2 Drives: Healthy SSD, HDD from 2016 of 1TB which is healthy and has 80% health

And to mention my PC does not have problems with overheating. Every cable is good, they are not loose

I updated BIOS to last version. I have check my hardware for physichal damages and there are none.

Software

I reinstalled various versions of windows now im using windows 10 which is up to date

Problem

I'm getting random restarts on not so demanding tasks, where the screen goes blank computer continues working fine and keyboard and mouse lose color, just like my pc is in hibernation(i have disabled hibernation, and power saving and disabled HDD turning off after set time) in power plan) I have disabled C-state in bios for my CPU. It crashed frequently then i did everything i found on web and its happening rarely and stopped even on demanding tasks, But i spend lot of time on Parsec and i cant use it cause of the frequncy and guaranteed crash. I dont really know what to try anymore. Under this text are logs from windows event viewer. I wrote to microsoft thread nobody replied to me, so sorry if this here is not for my problem.

Can you swap out Gpu?
trust me bro, this kind of problem, is better you bring it to the PC shop
you dont want to going the long path of troubleshoot

BUT if this is software problem, reinstall GPU driver, or maybe dont use your Parsec could be the solution
Event ID 41 (and 6008) are useless on their own. It's just logging that the prior shutdown was unexpected. Think of it like when Windows goes to shut down, it leaves a note to itself saying "I am expecting and initiating this" and then shuts down. When it starts up, it looks for that. If it doesn't find it, then it creates logs for Event ID 41.

It won't help you troubleshoot it; you need to find if there are other signs, such as logs in Event Viewer, BSOD logs, and/or WHEA logs.

Restarts during idle or load sounds like something is unstable in the CPU at spots in the frequency/voltage curve. I'd be looking at either the PSU or the voltages the motherboard is auto-configuring the CPU for. If I had to make a guess, you'll probably find logs for Event ID 18 as well (and possibly WHEA logs).

Either way, what PSU is it? Wattage and rating alone is useless, and even "good" PSUs can be faulty. It's also new, so it needs checked. Did these symptoms start recently? Like around the time the PSU changed?

If you're not updated on the BIOS, do that.

If you're using the RAM profile speeds, try to disable them and use the default.

RAM is probably fine (based on you saying you tried others) but running MemTest86 to more fully rule it out would be helpful. Both RAM kits can be good... but configured in an unstable manor by the motherboard. Rule this out by testing it and disabling profile speeds.

Again, I'd be looking at the PSU and motherboard here. If it was only at graphical load, I'd say the GPU needs looked at too, but if it's at low load it might be CPU/platform side. Just check if these "low loads" are all hardware accelerated things (equals uses the GPU). If they are, it could still be the GPU.

Similar thoughts, I discounted psu as its new(ish). If the gpu checks out, I would lean to M/board, if OP is good with what has been done so far there's not much left to test.

Thanks for replies, the bios is up to date, i tested with other psu's the problem also continued now im using Chieftec 700W TPS-700S 80+ Bronze. I use default Ram speeds and i have 2x8gb i testted each od them and both of them combined, there are no errors. Just to mention when i had g 1030 with passive cooling it did not happened and its not happening when i use it. On my windows which i used year ago if i dont underclock my gpu the browser would even crash, so ot was very unstable. With underclocked there were rarely crashes except for Parsec which is same like now. Now im havinh somewhat stable system without underclocking. I undrclocked with AMD radeon adrenalin software.

what brand/model psu?

80+ bronze? gold or better has been the standard for the last 5+ years

amd a boards are all pretty much trash, made for low end cpus or office tasks
4+1+1 vrm config, can only give the cpu around 80w max before throttling
the board cannot give the cpu enough power for it to overheat

get the correct mobo chipset drivers so windows knows how its throttling

If it happened with another PSU and it happens at default RAM speed but more importantly if it did not happen on a previous GPU, I'd be looking at the GPU.

I had basically the same thing you describe except it was isolated to medium to heavy GPU loads (except when I disabled RAM profile speeds which made it worse for some reason?). It started with a new GPU like you and an RMA resolved it.

You could try underclocking the core or RAM and/or giving them (a little!) more voltage to see if it improves.

Also, Adrenalin on a system without an AMD IGP and using a GeForce? Why? I'd just remove it and use Ryzen Master for any CPU tuning (or ideally, set frequency/voltage stuff in the BIOS). if you're manually adjusting those things though, then it's not at default and that might be related. Again, I'd be testing everything default to rule out custom settings.

GT 1030 is my old one, and i forgot to say that i bought r9 380 from friend who didnt used his pc a while. I do not know how to tune voltages i just leave everything to default. When i used gt 1030 to see is the problem still happening i installed drivers with clean install and later when i returned r9 380 i also did clean install. So since the gpu is the problem i think. I guess im gonna take it to service to see is it all good. Cause i really dont know to do with r9 380 i have been playing with it in radeon and everything i set has resultet to crash. And i did get correct chipset drivers and they are up to date. Here is my PSU: https://www.exceed.rs/artikal/700w-chieftec-tps-700s-80plus-bronze
There always one method i usually do when software and hardware seems ok, but still getting crash is by doing ♥♥♥♥♥ PC , so whole your PC installed without its case
For adrenaline, what you need to do is just set your clock speed at 90% in GPU tuning Tab
R9 380 which vendor? The OC variant?
mihajlo 15 Des 2024 @ 5:28pm
i have overclock variant of r9 380, but i tried 90% also lower than that and higher still the result is same
