Google chrome is better than Mozilla firefox.
Give any of these anti virus a chance:
- TrendMicro (which I am currently using)
- Avast (previously used)
- Bitdefender
- Panda
- AVG
- Microsoft Security Essentials... suprisingly, it does a decent job.
Premium versions are available.
For more info, follow this link: http://www.av-comparatives.org/dynamic-tests/ , and checkout the August - November 2014 test results. Unfortunately, viewing their charts in the PDF would be an eye strain, so you will need to atleast zoom in to about 150%.
PS: He who runs BAREBACK on the NET is a fool, and will eventually will get boned.

I personally perfer Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 due to the application control and firewall.
Whatever you do - don't go Microsoft Security Essentials, it's good performance, but does nothing for your protection, except for very common viruses, which you get free as a forced Windows Updates under the other name "Windows Defender". Both failed real virus detection since 2009. It's rating is a mere 0.5/5 protection.
As mentioned by Ghost, this is an extremely good test result / comparison done monthly:
