Is this a safe place to get winrar from?
So I need to get winrar on my pc and one the websites I found was this

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

It seems legit but I downloaded top 64 bit link not a localized version/ but when I downloaded it I got abunch of adware that was anoying to remove.

If this is not a safe place to get it from then can you please link me to a safe place to get it from because you cant really download mods for games without winrar.
I also dont want to break the law so dont post links to pirate site or something.

Thanks

The official websites for WinRAR are http://www.rarlab.com/ and http://www.win-rar.com/ so it should be fine to download from there.

It is the actual offical website, but you need to untick/decline those additional extras (adware) during the installation of it. Quite a few software products do that, even some of the good ones.

Personally, I suggest using 7-Zip or J-Zip instead.
They're both good and free file extraction programs.

Rule no. 1 is to always check custom installation. Be aware some installers try to "hide" the options to install adware by coloring the text in grey so it looks like it is disabled but you can actually click/check it!

Nothing wrong with say, Download.com either
That is run by CNET

But really all u need is 7-Zip to handle the most common compressed file types.

Or you can just grab all your essential software from ninite and it'll uncheck all the adware garbage before installing.
