Is the Noctua NH-U12S redux powerful enough for this processor, or do I need to buy a new fan? I'm thinking of buying this Noctua NH-U9S, but if the NH-U12S redux is powerful enough for this processor then I won't buy a new one. :boomer:

Should be fine, it`s not some i9.

Thank you.
I'll put the extra money into savings, maybe for a new graphics card. :boomer:

Is the fan on it faulty? Should be still under warranty, so contact Noctua.

Not broken, I just wondered if the fan had enough power to cool the processor.
Or should I replace the entire fan with a more powerful one. like Noctua NH-U9S
Noctua NH-U12S redux is better than the NH-U9S model. NH-U12S is also comparable to the NH-D15 airflow wise. Keep the Noctua NH-U12S as it has the higher airflow than the NH-U9S.

Do NOT look solely at the fan RPM, this does not matter.

Airflow CFM is what matters. Higher the airflow the better.

High RPM fans can also 1) cause more noise than is needed; 2) tends to wear out/break easier; 3) are also more costly to replace.

Airflow CFM is what makes or breaks CPU/GPU coolers (or any type of fan) not just RPM.

In short, CFM > RPM

As for sinks, unless its a dual sink, they are mostly all the same single sinks with varying thermal displacements, therefore to look at CFM is proper thus to cool said sink(s).

NH-U9S is not a fan, NF-A9 PWM is a fan or the NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM is a fan too. You surely mean heatsink?

yes i meant heatsink?

sorry for my bad english. :sad_boy:

NH-U12S redux is enough for 5700X3D? :DS_Necromorph:

Which one, 5700X3D or 5800XD3, and I wonder if my heatsink is efficient for cooling? :excited_boy:

The 5800X3D is almost 40€ more expensive

The latest games require a better processor than the R5 3600.. and it seems to me that in some games the R5 3600 is a bottleneck

That's good news. Since I don't have to buy a new cooler, I save the extra money for a new graphics card. :boomer:

You can always lower the graphics settings and resolution, but then there will be a CPU bottleneck, I don't want to reduce the resolution. I'm going to buy a 5700X3D and then save money for a better graphics card. The RTX 3060 Ti has performed quite reasonably well at 1440p resolution.

There's always going to be a bottleneck, for gaming it's going to be between the CPU and GPU 9 times out of 10, the GPU becomes the bottleneck at higher resolutions as the load increases, the CPU becomes the main bottleneck at lower resolutions when the GPU is able to push higher framerates, but if you play at 60Hz, it makes basically no difference on the CPU.

Bottlenecks are mostly taken too seriously regardless, it's unavoidable, but if you want to see a real bottleneck, pair a Celeron with an RTX 4090, you'll see what a real bottleneck is.

For Zen2, pretty much everything up to the 3070 is going to be fine.

I don't think I'll get all the power out of this graphics card (3060Ti) with this processor. I'm going to buy a 5700X3D and then start saving money on a new graphics card. I'll see if the frame rate goes up at all.
