**Secondary [Games drive]** 500 Gb WD HDD

**Operating System & Version:** Windows 10 Pro Version 23H2

**GPU Drivers:** GRD 551

**Description of Problems**

Low fps in Almost All Games! Stutters making games unplayable, extreme fps drops, computer is laggy even when opening files, sometimes crashing (explorer.exe has stopped responding) being slow in literally everything, gpu usage drops lower than cpu while in games causing low fps.

Games that have problems are: Doom eternal, Resident evil 4 Remastered, Fortnite, Elden Ring.

No clear reason, temps are fine (no 80 degrees and higher) no clear mining running, haven't run anything sketchy

There are other minor problems:
I noticed that when moving the mouse the pc makes coil whining sounds [ONLY WHEN MOVING THE MOUSE], tried lowering mouse reporting hz, didn't help, also gpu clock speeds and usage vary when in use, gpu usage drops lower than cpu causing massive stutters and clock speeds are flunctioating under load.

Also speakers, headphones make electrical noises, weird high pitch noise whenever it's plugged in, even when browsing [unrelated probably, ground loop?]

Tried : Ddu to clean install drives, reverting nvidia drivers to version 537.58 (as recommended by others), resetting nvidia control pannel settings, turning off game mode, hardware acceleration, gpu scheduling, xbox game bar, moving games to ssd, none worked

Haven't tried : clean install of windows, don't have any spare parts to try incase a part is broken.

Note that i ran stable diffusion [ai art] on the pc, Although i did with keeping temps low and with power limits, could it have killed the gpu or any part?

You have very little storage space, have you filled those up too much maybe? Should leave at least 50 GB space on your boot SSD and 100 GB space on HDD so the OS can work properly.

You should be able to run that RAM on 3200 MHz with that motherboard, it`s in the specs. Have you tried to enable the XMP profile in BIOS?

Some general thoughts about this build:
Motherboard is terrible cheap garbage. PSU is terrible quality and could cause issues with GPU. Storage space is very tiny for these days.
Actually, they're pretty full, only 15-20 gb left on each drive, might do a format and a reinstall of windows.

As for xmp, can't enable that as the option is available but the dropdown menu only shows "disabled" and no other profiles leading me to believe it's some kind of lock?

Hardware wise [if it's hardware] I'm clueless on what to change? Some said the gpu has gone bad. Alot said it's the MB, Alot said it's the drives, Might need to throw the whole thing away and switch to mac Lol

HDD alone can cause massive stutters.

https://youtu.be/DNAkCFNPa9A?si=hznwFwsZrMJ2rwfm

Another reason is no XMP activated. default 2666MT/s is too slow for some games and will add even more stutters.

There can be more reasons but I would start from testing games on a SSD (even better if it's an NVME drive)

Can't enable xmp {ПОСИЛАННЯ ВИЛУЧЕНО}

It's most likely the drives, especially since they're almost full.

You need to at least reinstall your OS on the 250GB SSD by itself and don't install any big files to it, just the OS and small things like Steam, and use one or more 2TB SSDs for game storage

Asus h510m-k

this is a major limiting factor

the cpu can support very fast ram, but the board is really choking it down

what res are you playing at?
3060ti is good for 1080p

hdd will introduce stuttering in open world or mmo games that are always loading random things, but in linear games they will be fine

the board and cpu can use 3200 ram
just enable xmp in bios

post a cpuz validation link
{ПОСИЛАННЯ ВИЛУЧЕНО}
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here
Heres the cpu-z link

https :// valid . x86 . fr / wshvgg

[Remove the spaces, had to add them cause steam removes the link]

Does this help?

intel does not do expo, thats an amd thing

Sorry ppl, did not realise I had been put on a different page. Thought I was referencing the Mb in his post.
So to update yall on the matter, I Emptied out the drives and completely reinstalled windows, Also updated my bios to the latest version, As of right now I've only tested fortnite and sadly nothing changed, fps are 40-50 and it stutters really bad, It's either that this problem is hardware or fortnite is badly optimized, will give an update when i try the rest of my games.
Hey, I have exactly the same problem as you, low fps in games, strange electric sounds and sometimes my file explorer even freezes, a lot of time has passed since this post, do you still have this problem or did you manage to solve it? My computer has been really starting to piss me off lately
Could be nearly full drives or a problem with the OS, it's common for crap like this with Windows

Download Hwmonitor and a stress test/benchmarking tool like OCCT or CPU Z and check the effective clock of the CPU.

Eventually i gave up and started playing lite games, although it did get a bit better after upgrading to windows 11... still don't know what the cause is, Fortnite now runs at 100-144 but only because i play with performance mode :(

Other games i just learned to play with low fps sadly

I've already did a cpu-z test, the link is in one of my comments on the thread, could you check it out for me if it's normal?

Your RAM is going to hurt performance a bit because you can't enable XMP, so it's running at 2666 CL19 which is much slower than what the RAM is rated for. But that shouldn't be the cause of your problems, if it was RAM then it would be a faulty DIMM, which you would see with constant blue screens.

GPU appears to be functioning normally, as does the CPU (maybe low CPU voltage but it's probably not an issue, doesn't need that much power just to validate and it's a very efficient CPU), I would assume it's related to storage or data corruption

Thank you so much, since it could be data related, could i try running games of a 3.0 usb drive maybe to test if it gets better? Don't have a spare drive lying around, would a usb flash work?

Doesn't solve issues with things like file explorer, running games off of USB bandwidth also doesn't end well
What you likely need to do is replace the entire SSD your OS is on because there's issues with Windows and not just games
