Linux is secure, don't worry too much about it. That said, just as Windows, it's as secure as it's weakest link. AKA the user.
On Linux anti-virus is rarely needed. And the available anti-virus programs for Linux mostly detect Windows malware. If anything anti-virus is a major weakness in a Linux system and it should not be installed.
There is only one anti-virus I would recommend for Linux, and that is ClamAV.
That's a given, but I mean in regards to web security.
If you want additional layers of protection against phishing and the like you can use a filtered DNS such as the one Cloudflare provides.
Reason for asking is I also do my banking on this rig.
i have been using linux for years
never had a virus or any trouble banking
the browsers are as secure as they are on windows
they are just programs
here is a vid of zorin

It's easily the most recommended distro for beginners out there.
my first was ubuntu
did not like it at all
then i tried mint, a debian/ubuntu hybrid
loved it
still use it on my daily
the only problem i have with mint is that it is a little slow on the drivers for nvidia
for gaming i use manjaro, an arch based system like they use in the deck
i use the cinnamon desktop on both
if what you are looking for is a win 7 like feel,
use mint with the cinnamon desktop
Rock solid, safe, snappy and it dosen't look bad at all.
Absolutely fine.
My answer would be quite different if you used NVidia.
