With SoundBlaster if you only installed the Driver it's still missing the audio configuration software which is optional.
Try getting it from the usb installer or from the aupport/download section of creative.com
I had their software installed, which is how I tried to test the speakers. Made no difference. So I sent it back for a refund.
You can see the pic of the box in an earlier reply. Post #19.
I have a query.. Does it work with Windows 11 and What linux distros and versions does it work with, I am presently using Ubuntu 24.04 and am trying to find a Sound Card or DAC with true 5.1 and cabling for 5.1 speakers that use the 3 audio jack setup.
Dobly Digital is not matrixed like prior Dolby formats. It's discrete surround sound[www.digitaltrends.com] that can be downmixed to stereo.
Matrixing is a method of trying to mix surround information into a lower number of discrete channels.[www.sweetwater.com]
What you can't do is send uncompressed L.P.C.M. surround over Sony Phillips Digital Interface. It can only send uncompressed stereo. Since it has to be pre-encoded as AC3, you won't be able to get live generated surround sound out of your games. Only D.V.Ds. and such which are pre-encoded as AC3. You probably don't want to buy a G3 just to make your computer into an overglorified D.V.D. or blu-ray player.
Moreover, although you should be able to use a G6 to send surround sound information to an external source, there'd be nothing special about it. Sony/Phillips Digital Audio Interface is a digital format. so it would bypass the fancy D.A.C. chip and audio amplifier circuitry.
Doesn't look like the G6 even has the necessary number of conductors to send discrete P.C.M. surround sound via analogue either.
Gaming in discrete surround sound isn't something with which I'm too accustomed, so I'm of no help there unfortunately. You'd probably want to do it over analogue audio outputs or H.D.M.I. though. The G6 doesn't have enough conductors to transmit true analogue 5.1, and it obviously lacks H.D.M.I. too.
If the Drivers work for Win10 64bit, then they shouldn't have any issues under Win11.
Most Drivers do not need to be Win11 specific.
