Auto-Adjusting resolution problem.
Alright, so I've been playing games with a resolution of 1280x720 and an aspect ratio of 16:9 on my monitor that has a 1280 x 1024 resolution so that it looks widescreen and is boxed in like a widescreen movie per say. All of a sudden, I start up DayZ and my monitor says the words "Auto Adjusting" (Monitor is a Dell 1280x1024), and then instead of being widescreen like I like it, it is all of a sudden fitted to the screen size so that the sides of the game are not visible and it goes as if thinking it is an actual 1280x720 monitor and creates it as a full size view with no borders whatsoever. As well I started up other games and started with the same problem as well, and I had even went and set my actual screen resolution from the control panel on my desktop and it wasn't creating the borders either. (my actual desktop is 1280x1024 but when I play a game I set it to a widescreen ratio of 16:9 at 1280x720). Please, and thank you if you have a fix and as well thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope I get a good answer!

I've checked the actual monitor's menu and tried to find settings such as that, and if that is not where this is supposed to be located, where would I find the settings to set the monitor to center/scale?

The game evidently caused the drivers to revert to a different global setting. What video card are you running?

My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 630

use the nvidia control panel, and under desktop size/position
select no scaling, and perform scaling on gpu

It only shows Perform Scaling On: Display (GPU is not in the list.)

It also says my native resolution is 1024x768, which is completely wrong.

As well the only way I can get the same widescreen look as when I'm in fullscreen, is by going windowed mode, BUT it shows everything behind the window and not the black bars/border like when I use fullscreen

if u have an NVIDIA GPU, it's quite simple actually; this is how Stretching all works in Windows w/ NVIDIA GPUs.

If you have a non-widescreen monitor and want to have a widescreen res display properly; you need to do the following. NVIDIA Control Panel > Adjust Desktop Size & Position > Aspect Ratio > Apply it to the Display. So if my display is 1280x1024, I can have 1280x720 display correct in this way; and that will result in black bars on top/bottom when I display a WS RES.

The same goes for widescreen users who want 4:3 or 5:4 res to actually display in the correct Aspect Ratio. For this, instead of Black Bars in the top/bottom; they'll be on the sides.

If you do not care and want your desktop/games to fill your entire screen no matter the res; then select Full Screen. As that will stretch any res to fit your entire screen.

If u do not have a HDCP Compliant GPU + Screen at the same time; GPU Scaling will not be an option; only on Display side. Which technically should still work. I used to do this back in the day when I ran a GTX 280 on a 22" Sony Tritron 1600x1200 monitor and it all works as I desribed above.

Alright, thanks man! Hopefully it works!

Ok, well it didn't work, it goes 16:9 only in windowed mode, and stretches it to 4:3 in fullscreen...
