That isn't the normal internet speed in Autrailia, I know that much. That's not good at all for modern usage.

There are multiple things that can affect internet speed: Your internet service provider, your connection type, hardware in your computer, your router, and physical interferance(such as distance from the router).

Try a few things to single out the cause:
-Use a different device on your network.
-If using WiFi, try connecting via ethernet.
-Look your router up online.
-Contact your internet service provider to find out what speed you should be getting(keep in mind that bits and bytes are two seperate measurements, 8 megabits = 1 megabyte).

Is that 160 Kilobytes or Kilobits? Small difference in spelling, big difference in data.

On 10 Megabits per second I get about 1.2 Megabytes per second. On 5 Megabits per second I get about 625 Kilobytes per second. Bytes are bits divided by 8 basically or 8 bits = 1 byte.

Sounds like you have relatively slow internet either way you look at it in bits or bytes.

Standard average in Canada is like 10 Megabits per second but that (I think) includes large corporate connections and stuff as well as inner city fiber optics. Out in the countryside it's probably more like 1 to 5 Megabits per second and I'm lucky to have recently got 10 (up from 5) where I live rurally but along a main highway and in a very small town.
ive looked at my parents computers and there the same speed as mine, and im connected through a cable already so its not that, and yeah its in bytes
