In the end, it's your choice...
You will get the same Nvidia GTX 970 chipset, there's no difference there.
However the structure built around it, my reasoning:
1) Anti-bend framework
2) 220% larger heatsink
3) Better cooling pipelines, 40% more direct from the GPU
4) DIGI+ VRM with Super Alloy Power (6 phase power)
5) 30% less noise
6) Complete quiet in low usage (fan-off mode)
7) 2.5x greater durability
8) Backplate
- I would only consider the GTX 780 at this stage, if getting one 2nd hand for much cheaper, as it can deliver the same performance, but not technology level.
- The MSI TwinFrozr might be a little more factory overclocked, but not as cool or quiet. If you don't care so much about noise and want to overclock, this could be a better option in some cases. However, I suggest also buying a backplate for it (as it doesn't come with one).
whre could i get a backplate for the msi card?
also where whould you reccommend buying the strix from? thanks
Backplate covers the whole lenght of graphics cards PCB, serves as an aesthetic add-on but also provides passive cooling for the backside of voltage regulation module (VRM) and protects the electronics on the back from dust and damage - which is why I like them (the back is actually the top of the card when installed into most systems).
Either black anodized aluminum or nickel-plated / see-thru.
Most people would place a water block inbetween as well, for extreme cooling under overclocking. So the see-thru version still lets you see the liquid pumping around, if desired.
MSI has the GAMING Gold Edition with a backplate already on it, but it will probably cost more.
I don't know or have seen MSI selling their own separate backplates. Only EVGA and ASUS seem to be the ones with backplate replacement options? Not sure.
Where best to purchase, would entirely depend on where you live. I could only suggest some great place here in NZ, not really anywhere else in the world.
