Powering gpu. Help needed.
So i still use my good old gtx680. It requires 2 6pin power cables. In my old pc i used 2 separate 6pin pcie cables to power it.

Now i built a new pc and moved my old gtx680 into it because i don't have enough money to buy a new gpu and this one does the job ok. Now here is the thing. My new psu that i got for the new pc came with loads of cables, one of them is an 8pin cable with 2x6pin pcie connectors on it. So i wonder, would that one cable power both 6pin pcie connectors on my gpu ?

Well ok then. Will replace the 2 cables that i currently use. One less cable will make my pc look nicer.

No, it won't. Graphics cards always require all power ports to be used.
You need two 6 pin or 6+2 pin connectors to be used and the extra two pins do not carry over to other PCI-E power ports.

It's also likely that, because your PSU only included one such cable, there's a chance that it may not be good enough to handle your graphics card.

check in the box for the gpu, look for a molex to pci-e power adapter

He said he has one cable, not one plug. Single cables with two PCI 6- or 8-pin plugs on the end are pretty common.

Just make sure you plug both 6's into your GPU and you're golden.

Yeah my psu is really good. It's a Corsair AX860.

I hope you are right and one cable with 2 6-pin plugs will power my gtx680 fine.

My Corsair RM850 is powering my GTX 970 with this setup right now. =)
