Not sure if its usable but 64 bit versions can handle larger amounts of ram more effectively than 32 bit so there defintely would be a performace loss and modern games tend to rely on ram in a big way so its best to get 64.
The problem I'm facing here is that I don't know if my motherboard can even support a new 64-bit CPU. It's old as hell, and I don't have the money to just go out and build a new one. So I'm essentially stuck with this PC.
XPS Gen 3 is my current PC. 4GB RAM (eew) stock processor, listed above. Geforce 560Ti graphics.
I see no REAL reason Steam would come out with a 32bit version of SteamOS, since it's outdated. And pretty much anyone that has asked for it, they've gotten an answer similar to "Get a new PC" or something along those lines. So, for people that don't really have a way to get a new PC, I really hope someone will make a workaround/conversion.
