Low FPS with new graphics card?
Hejj there,

So I bought a new graphics card last week (EVGA GeForce GTX 760) and replaced my ancient one, but since I did so, I have FPS drops in League of Legends when there's a lot happening on the screen. I didn't change settings and it didn't happen with my old one. Anyone knows what could cause that?
I also have some problems in Payday 2, but ONLY the lobby (my character is shaking). If I change resolution, that doesn't happen anymore.

Thanks,
Fal

what was the old gpu?

if it was an amd/ati gpu, did you uninstall the old driver before rebooting swapping cards?

It was an AMD! But I completely removed the driver after I swapped cards.. Could that cause the problem?
It sounds to me like you have a bottleneck, what type of cpu are you running?

Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.7GHz, currently 6GB RAM and still the original an Acer FX58M motherboard. But the old graphics card didn't have a problem, so why the better one?

Its because the old graphics card worked much better with that cpu whereas the new graphics card is being bottlenecked because it is much newer technology and 2.7GHz is not really enough its ok but if your experiencing bottlenecks in games like lol its not that good plus your motherboard is Old Which wouldnt suport it aswell sa the newer motheboards. Basically your new GPU is not running at its full potential because it is being held back by your older hardware and that is why you are experiencing low FPS its not the graphics card that is bad. That is why I recommend to Upgrade your hardware at least every 5 years. You need to upgrade your motherboard and And cpu, if you want the full potential of your gpu, aslo make sure that your PSU can handle it. The newer technology is a bit more power consuming. Also if you want to you can try OC your new gpu? Its up to you, but it will squeeze a few more juice out of it but i highly recommend you look into new hardware ASAP.
People sure do like to throw the B word around. The i7 920 still isn't a bad CPU, and I seriously doubt a GTX 760 would be held back by it.

I hate the 'B' Word myself lol but if its had to be used its gotta be used. The i7 is good but its a 920 a really old generation CPU. The 760 is one of the newest 700 series GPU's and its Geeky core specs are different from old GPU's like his old one. So yes im afraid it sounds like bottlenecking but its not a bottleneck I cant think of anything else.

I wouldn't be surprised if my old hardware would hold back my new graphics card, but I highly doubt that it would be worse than with my old gc.
The CPU isn't working at full capacity and neither is my GPU or RAM, so I don't understand those FPS drops. Heat is also no problem.

Did you run any tests on valley benchmark? See what scores you get and then you will find out if it is a bottleneck or something else. You should be getting a avg fps of 30 with high settings i would guess.

I didn't know about Valley Benchmark, but I just downloaded it and ran some tests (I guess).
On Extreme HD I get 40 - 70 FPS, depending on the scene, and without Anti-aliasing I get even 30-40 FPS more (so 70 - 110).
1366 i7 is old, but still a strong cpu
they are good overclockers, 3.5-4ghz is possible
http://www.overclock.net/t/538439/guide-to-overclocking-the-core-i7-920-or-930-to-4-0ghz

at stock it might hold back the 760 some, but not by enough to be slower than your old gpu

download driversweeper and clean up all amd and nvidia drivers, then reinstall the latest nvidia driver

347.09 for win64

I did it in a.. more complicated way. I changed graphics card, re- and deinstalled everything from AMD and than switched back to my new GTX. First game now and everything works fine so far!
Thanks for the help :)

Edit: Played one LoL game, was getting 60 FPS throughout the game. Just started Payday 2 and my character is still shaking in the lobby (but not the game). May be a problem with my old screen though.

As you discovered the time to remove previous video drivers when switching between AMD/ATI and Nvidia is "before" you swap the cards, not after.

Now I know, thanks! ^^
Problems are ALMOST gone now, but I still have some minor FPS drops.
