"Compress this drive to save disk space" option question?

Hello, I have a 1TB memory drive and I saw this feature and I have about 100+ games installed on my PC (I still got 100GB left) but was wondering if I click the "compress this drive to save disk space" option if it will do any harm to my PC or make me lose any data and would I have to reinstall my games or what?

it wont lose data, just use more cpu to uncompress when data is needed

basically it slows everything down to increase disk space
not a good idea for gaming
just pick up another hdd and move steam to it

Don't use Compression; it will greatly slow-down the system.

Rather, only use it for bulk storage, such as images, videos, or other miscellaneous files. Although using it for the OS drive or where games/programs are stored is a very bad idea.
