VGA no signal...Help?
So recently I've built a desktop with the knowledge I've learned from Youtube. With everything finished I became hype, thinking "I'LL FINALLY HAVE A GOOD GAMING COMPUTER!" But I digress, I hooked it up to a compaq moniter using VGA (Of course) and got "VGA no signal" moniter flickers off. I've went on youtube and found out I had to take the ram out and put it back in and I did it again properly. Nothing happen, tried it on 3 Moniter (Asus, Compaq, Some Super old computer FTW)

Just incase these questions are asked I'll answer them now: I used some type of shock gloves thingy to not mess anything up, I did not touch the small pins on the CPU, This computer sadly...Do not have HDMI :'(, The fans turn on and the green light do too and no I do not hear any ringing or bell sound, Google is our friend but after 5 days of looking on fourms STEAM is a better friend! So I'm asking here...hopefully the right fourm.

Please someone help me! I can't go back to Counter-Strike 1.6! I need to give love to CS:GO <3

what gpu do you have?

many newer gpus only support 1 analog monitor
vga is analog
dvi-a = analog only (only dvi-vga adapters work)
dvi-d = digital only (only dvi-hdmi adapters work)
dvi-i = analog and digital (any dvi adapter will work)

GPU issue
RAM issue
PSU issue
3 possibilities

My experience with that has been a RAM issue though if its not a GPU problem.
Possible you have a faulty RAM stick.. have you tried powering on the PC with just 1 stick at a time?

A Damaged DIMM slot can have the same effect as well if its in use by a RAM stick.

That's a good idea, I'll try powering it on with 1 at a time. Plus my GPU isn't new I think... ATI Radeon HD 4200

If you put the RAM in incorrectly you could have damaged a DIMM slot

Hmm.. Like the other said it could be many things.
GPU/RAM/PSU
It could also be that youe PCI-E slot is disabled in your mobo?
Since this is your first build i have to ask, Have you ever loaded into windows with this config?
Do you have windows installed?
Nell 10/mai./2015 às 7:38
Haven't got to windows yet thanks to VGA no signal, I'm really a rookie with tech so I really don't know what's a PCI-E or a mobo. Let see if I can google those. :tornbanner:

I didn't put my RAM in incorrectly...But something that suprised me was the dude said "Push your RAM down gently until you hear a "CLICK"....I had to go all HULK SMASH just to get the thing to click in...I hope I didn't mess anything up ;-;.

I experienced the exact same thing on my first build … Had to exert a frightening amount of pressure on the RAM sticks before hearing a *click*.

It all worked out in the end, 'thou … Blame the tight fit on using all new parts.

Ok so I just tried this, sadly I got the same results, but I learned something useful hopefully. Even when the desktop is off it says on the screen VGA no singal when connected. DIMM slots looks all the same so I'm guessing they are ok. Thank you for your help.

So I'm planning on just showing you guys images of my computer insides. Here some specs though...

AMD Athlon II 640 Quad core Processor
8 GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4200
750GB Hard drive
Window 7 Premium

Nothing Special but ta-da.

Did you get it working?
Do you have a friend that will lend you a montor?
Nell 10/mai./2015 às 12:24
I haven't got it working yet, and I've already got 3 moniters that I tested it on. I don't know if my friend would come over and help me out but I'm thinking of taking it to a shop. I'm just a little dissapointed that I have to take it to a shop in the first place ;-; and probably...most likely pay to get it checked. I'm just thinking of buying a pre-built next time.

Don't worry, we all make mistakes and learn from them. I would not give up so easy, I understand that its frustrating.

Have you tried to boot up just using 1 Ram stick? If that one doesent let you boot, swap to the other one and see if it will boot. Do you hear any beep indicating a error code? Did your motherboard come with a little speaker that connects to the motherboard?
Might just be a bad Graphics card, can u test it in your friends computer to see if it will boot?
Nell 10/mai./2015 às 16:12
I've tested one ram at a time already and there are no beeps for errors. I'll try testing it with my friends motherboard. Thanks for helping @The Mechan1c It's great to see someone try hard to help a fellow Steam player :-)!

No problem. Let me know if you need more help. Always around.
tigerxs1 10/mai./2015 às 18:24
id run your system with no graphics card(most motherboards have basic graphics chip,it should get you into bios) then try that ram suggestion above,re-check all cables if you havent done so already..some graphics cards need power from the psu others are directly powerd by the motherboard.make sure cpu fan isnt loose as they can be a pain to fit sumtimes. few more things to try - good luck
Sir Floppenstein 10/mai./2015 às 18:37
Are you plugging the monitor directly into the video card or just into the motherboard?

also what model motherboard
