Does the AMD FX-6300 use "Bulldozer" architecture?
Just a curious thing I was wondering because I read that Windows 7 has problems with it, but I thought Bulldozer was only on the 8-core FX series CPUs. I think it's on the Vishera architecture, I just wanted to check...
Excuse me if this is a dumb question, but I don't know too much about CPUs, compared to my GPU knowledge. haha
Cheers!

At a high level, Vishera swaps out the Bulldozer cores from Zambezi and replaces them with Piledriver.

So the cores are Bulldozer or Piledriver and the archictecture is Zambezi or Vishera.

Ok, thanks. From what I could gather, looks like I have piledriver.

If Win7 then u just install the MS Hotfixes for when using an FX CPU + Win7 is all.

Bad-Motha, are you sure those hotfixes are still necessary? I applied them for the heck of it and didn't see any noticeable difference in performance/core parking behavior on my 8350.

I'm guessing they're either unnecessary for Piledriver, or they were rolled into an official Windows update. I could be wrong about that though...

Yea, they don't matter for piledriver. Just for Bulldozer... :)

This is info can be verified it's straight from the Wikipedia Page (ik this is an old post but knowledge is power) "The line was introduced with the Bulldozer microarchitecture at launch (codenamed "Zambezi"), and was then succeeded by its derivative Piledriver in 2012 (codenamed "Vishera"). - source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_FX

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
