Upgrading a Dell Inspiron 660
My current specs are:

Intel HD Graphics
CPU: Intel Quad i5 3340 3.1GHz
RAM: 8GB
Motherboard: Dell 084J0R
PSU: I've read on forums that it is around 300/350w for my model

I want to upgrade my current graphics to a Sapphire Radeon R9 280 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IRTXPBM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2YDJ8A04HAEO9&coliid=IZ5U1DUSIY4AX) but Sapphire has said that this graphics card will need a 750w PSU. Will that fry my system? If so, what would be the highest PSU I could hook up into this? (Obviously I would have to change graphics cards)

750w for crossfire maybe

but a quality 550w can run any single gpu

evga 600b is good and cheap

or xfx550w is much better but costs a little more

Ok, so a 600w PSU would be fine then?

depends, if its a cm/diablotek/thermaltake, not a chance
if its seasonic, xfx, yes

600W PSU will be fine since i5 doesnt take much power, manufacturers cover their asses with inflated PSU requirements.

And there are no motherboard issues right? The last thing I want is to plug it in only to find that I've set the motherboard on fire due to the higher PSU output

Nah it doesnt work that way, your components draw only what they need no matter how powerful PSU.

Just make sure that graphics card you want to buy will fit inside your case, some of the cards are quite long.
