would a core i3 4130 dual core be better then my athlon x4 750k quad core?

Both at same clock speeds (3.4Ghz) But I do know that the i3 dual core but has hyper threading and consumes a lot less power and not as hot. I love the Athlon 750k but when the time comes when I feel I want to upgrade I would like to go intel

Most or all of those are failures due to overclocking for a long time.

I'd like to point out that Intel's $1000 i7-3960X is on the list, there is just more AMD CPUs cause for overclocking they are cheaper & more common. Most AMD CPUs overclock, most Intel CPUs do not overclock. Thus more silly people fry their VRM on a AMD.

Hey look there are 3 reasons I'd consider a AM3+ motherboard with less than 5 heatsinked VRM or a FM2/FM2+ motherboard with less than 5 unheatsinked VRM.

1. I'm on a extreme budget, won't overclock, have made the choice to get a better CPU and this rather than a better motherboard & crappy CPU & may try to undervolt it to reduce load.

2. I'm building a basic PC with a locked APU & thus can't overclock & high performance or overclocking are not the intended purpose or future.

3. I want to run a amateur server like for games or something with a AMD FX since I can't afford the equivalent Opteron. I will underclock the CPU and undervolt the CPU with the goal of tuning it down to the same speeds and power use as a Opteron just in a AM3+ socket. Could build a whole micro-server for the price of the equivalent Opteron alone. The reason those boards are good for a amateur micro-server is cause they have integrated graphics, crappy but functional enough for a server that only uses CPU.

Then you undervolt & underclock the FX 6300 as much as possible and try and get it running super low power, even less than the 6 core Opteron would and your board will probably be very safe. It's a different socket but it's almost exactly the same CPU. The Opteron however cause of the different socket gets better motherboards with access to more memory than a mere 16GB or 32GB like these cheap AM3+ boards would have.
