Monitor Ghosting - Is there a fix?
A few days ago I made a thread about this monitor - benq gl2760h. However It seems to have a problem where when there are moving objects, or using my cursor over a blue image/picture/background there is a dark trail.

for example, if I move my mouse fast enough over a blue background, e.g desktop, I see a blueish black trail of a "ghost" cursor behind it.

I have tried another monitor, and it doesn't have this issue. I reinstalled my video drivers. is there a fix or should I return it?

Reset monitor's settings (Factory Set) or try it out with a DVI or HDMI cord.

I have reset it - the only feature I found that make any direct difference was an "AMA" feature of which I am not familiar with. Turning it off reduced the effect at the expense of what seemed to be some choppyness to frame movements.

I will try a different HDMI cable, although even on a different VGA and DVI cable I had the same issue.
Okay, so here is my conclusion

  • Replugged all wires
  • Tried a different HDMI cable, a DVI-I, and VGA cable
  • Tried another PC - issue persisted on the defected monitor
  • Reinstalled Drivers for GPU (Nvidia GTX 660 344.48 WHQL drivers)
  • Reset Settings on the Monitor to factory/default
  • Restarted PC and Monitor
  • A second monitor, connected to my PC and the second PC had no issues

Issue: Ghosting and Trailing, when images or objects move on a screen a shadow or ghost trail follows on certain, but most coloured backgrounds. Happens everywhere, regardless of software or OS

I just want confirmation, as I do not want to waste money on P&P and have them deny anything.

You should try messing with the monitor's settings. I don't know about this model, but others have settings you can adjust to reduce ghosting like Trace Free II technology. If all else fails then the monitor might just be defective or not suited to your needs. It has good reviews. I'm amazed you are having this problem. You could try contacting BenQ tech support.

Others with this model don't report ghosting with the AMA setting set to ON. If I turn it off, the ghosting is reducing, to a slight blur, with this odd choppyness. None of the 500 or so 4/5 star reviews on Amazon report this. However plenty videos on youtube report ghosting with benq due to this setting. It is bothersome after a while, and I have payed enough money for it.
So I got the replacement, and same ghosting on my cursor and other moving objects occurs. I guess I'll just have to live with it and hopefully just forget about it. They (amazon) recieved the return, but I'm hoping they won't charge for the second one saying there's nothing wrong. The description says no flickering and ghosting.
Yeah yeah. 1 year later. I have the same issue, yet to fix it. Disabled AMA but have that choppiness =/. If you still use that same monitor have you found a solution?
Unfortunately, the monitor still has the same issue. Disabling AMA does reduce it a bit, but as you have described it, it gives it a sort of choppiness to it.
what cable are you using, not a hdmi cable,
found this , sound like a cheap cable not shielded
Ghosting Monitor Solution!

Happy girl found solution to ghosing monitor display!I unplugged the USB cable to my Lexmark printer, uncrossed the wires in the back and plugged it back in! If your monitor starts ghosting again – check for crossed wires from other peripherals.

Try wiggling the monitor cable just below where it connects to the monitor and you can see the changes right on your monitor!

If you have a ghosting problem, be sure to read the article at MadeByMark and your fix might be just as easy! Now, back to what I WAS doing… Got a ‘quick-fix’ tech solution to add? Add your fix to the comments section below – every little bit helps!

I had ghosting problem on my "Acer Predator x34a", But I fixed it by turning the monitor setting "Over Drive" from extreme back down to normal. Hope this helps someone (:

I may have gotten somewhere. There is a setting on the monitor, "AMA". Disabling it removed any ghosting, however there seems to be a sort of motion blur now. Noticeable, but it has removed the motion blur. is it either live with the blur, or the ghosting?

You nailed it! thanks
