fine for amd gpus
if using a 5.1 reciever, you need a spdif header adapter
http://www.amazon.com/SPDIF-RCA-Plate-Cable-Bracket/dp/B0035J9Z7Wr
but for stereo to 5.1-7.1 analog, you can use the 3 rear jacks
else it looks fine
I do have one concern, and that is the battery; I'm wondering if it's maybe too close to the PCI-E 16x which would get in the way of my ASUS 760 OC. I imagine it won't, but I like to obsess over every single detail... just in-case. :P
Thanks for the feedback.
I'd wager they've tested the board with various GPUs in order to test these issues before putting it on sale.
a cr2025-2032 battery can make it over 10 years
That's not really what I was getting at. xD I wouldn't have minded taking the GPU out to replace the battery, for example, but it was just it being there that worried me. I know they last for ages. I've had ancient rigs that were from the late 90s and their battery still works. Hah
The Z97-K is £94 where I'm buying it from, and the Z98-A is £119. That's actually quite a modest increase for a 3-way SLI, but, I'd be surprised if I ever use 2-way, let alone 3. With the driver issues, micro-stuttering, games with compatibility issues, and whatever else is an issue with SLI/Xfire, I think I'll just carry on assuming I won't use it for years to come. :P
I appreciate the suggestion.
.... on the other hand, I'll think about it, because that's a nice board. :P
You can get SLI-capable MSI Z97-G45 for £95 from Amazon UK:

And Asus Z97-A is £106 at AriaPC:
