Dedicated SSD for the OS only: Worth it?

I right now have a 512GB SSD with my OS and games installed. I have it partitioned into 100GB for Windows 8.1 / 3rd party apps, and 412GB for my most frequently played games, mostly consisting of my Steam Library. I was thinking about buying a Samsung 850 Pro 128GB purely for my OS and 3rd party apps and using my current 512GB SSD purely for my games and getting rid of the OS partition on it. Is it worth it? Would data reliability be better with separate SSDs than one SSD with multiple partitions?

I don't understand the need to when your 512GB is plenty.

there is little difference between a single ssd partitoned, and 2 seperate drives

Well if my games partition gets full and I still have plenty free space on my OS partition, I would have to repartition to change their sizes and risk data loss or an unsucceful repartition. With separate physical drives, if my games SSD is low on space, I can just buying a bigger SSD and clone it to the bigger SSD without messing with the OS SSD, and not risking data loss. Many years ago I had an unsuccessful repartition ending up with errors when I was resizing two partitions on one drive and I was using a 3rd party partitioning utility.

With my Steam Library on a separate drive or partition, I don't have to copy them back from my Steam Library backup which is on my 2TB USB HDD if I reformat the OS partition and reinstall Windows and I don't have to copy back X-Plane 10 either since it's on the games partition as well. This saves wear and tear on my SSD, lowers downtime, and saves on my ISP's data cap since some games my backup does not always have the latest updates to the games.
