Hard Drive Shrink Partition Leads To Unexpected Error
Title. I don't know why this is, I recently installed my new hard drive using the power and SATA connector, but it won't show up in my http://prntscr.com/4xjufb unless I manually assign a drive path to it everytime I boot up my computer.

Another problem is that everytime I try to shrink the volume to create a partition, I get this http://prntscr.com/4xjusc

NTFS, 1000 GB, completely clean, never installed anything on it so far, until I figure out what is going on. I tried googling this with 0 solutions.

EDIT: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, reall copy

Help much appreciated,
Kevin

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, reall copy
if what you mean is retail copy, and want to do clean installation all over again to avoid that error (delete/wipe/reformat the hdd again) then do the following:

download minitool partition wizard bootable cd edition, burn the iso to a blank cd-r using free imageburn software.

boot from download minitool partition wizard bootable cd, delete/wipte/reformat/partition the hdd).
insert windows 7 ultimate 64bit retail disc and install it.

---
alternative: download/install minitool partition wizard free edition for windows and create partition of the hdd.

Thank you, it works great so far, I was able to create the partition that I wanted, but it still won't show up even after I assign drive paths to both http://prntscr.com/4xkc7u I cannot re install windows at the moment, I don't haeva disc or flash drive.

EDIT: Pending, let's see if this works

maybe the BIOS did not see your hdd.

at boot time, depending on the bios maker/motherboard manufacturer, go into bios by pressing function keys: F2, F10, F11, or delete key.
when already in the bios, detect your hard drive and click 'save and exit'.

Under boot drives my Hard Drive is not detected if that's what you ment. I also can't find where to detect my hard drive. My motherboard is ASUS M5A97

The problem is that I need to re assign a drive path in windows for my PC to see it.
To clarify, after I assign a drive letter, turn off my PC, boot up, windows no longer remembers the path and so it is hidden until I re assign the same or a new letter.

navigate to 'Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools'
click 'Computer Management'
click 'disk management'
right click drive F and 'assign drive letter' and click' ok'
format selected partition afterwards.
re-do for the next partition K .

for ease of use, i partitioned my hdd into 4 partitions, drive C (system/boot drive), D, E, F. drive drive G is my dvd-rw drive.
drives H, I are my two virtual drives.

DEL

I do as you said, but when I reboot the drive letter is gone and the drive is hidden, however, if I create a folder and re boot and re assign letter nothing will be lost, probably something I have to get used to, unless I reinstall windows I guess...

Sounds like you partitioned the drive as a Dynamatic Drive, instead of Primary...
I did this by mistake on an external I had, and I had a hella time ever getting it to
show in Windows 7.. I eventually pulled everything off it, and repartitioned and format.
All is well in my little world.. :P Possibly the same is for you??

what key did you use to go into BIOS?
under the bios settings, click 'load optimized defaults' and press 'enter' key.

I don't even know anymore

EDIT: I will try that in BIOS @chiefputsa
EDIT #2: Nope, nothing, unfortunately.

It didn't work, I'm clueless, I've tried everything on the Microsoft page & Google & this. No matter what I do I have to re assign a path letter...
L0WHAWK 19/out./2014 às 10:23
You have to re-assign a drive path each time, because it is a dynamic drive, not a primary. That is the only logical reason. If you have this drive partitioned into 4 sections, you will have to back up the drive and repartition the entire drive.. because you can't simply re-format the dynamic partition and it become a primary.. you must redo the entire drive..
