What's the best gaming laptop I can get for £900 or less?

My old laptop's starting to break down (and wasn't that great to begin with) and my gaming PC's been dead for months, so I want to get a gaming latop to replace them both (ideally one which'll last a few years and I can also use for games programming).

I was thinking of replacing the 500GB HDD with the "250 GB Samsung 840 EVO SATA III Gaming MLC Solid State Disk" option (I don't think I'll really need the extra space; I've got all the programs I need installed on my current laptop, plus 5 games and it's barely used up 70GB).

Can I do better than that for £900 (about $1400, I think) or less?

EDIT: Just to clarify; a desktop wouldn't be very practical for me right now. v_v

Regarding your original choice ditch that hdd asap. It's not a big deal for gaming but it will make the rest of your use feel slow as hell. There is no reason a premium laptop should use anything below a 7200rpm hdd in this day and age.

Why don't you just spend your $1400 on a desktop and the rest on a laptop?

You can buy a very good gaming PC for $800-900 and spend the rest on a laptop for programming. This is recommended unless you absolutely need a gaming laptop.

I suppose I should have said it outright in the OP, but; a desktop isn't really practical for me right now (the shortest answer would be that I need a reasonably powerful laptop and I can't afford both that and a gaming desktop).

Thanks, but it's already over my budget. As I understand it, I won't have to pay duty on a laptop, but I'd still need to pay VAT, which adds another 15% on top of that.

I've been looking for similar models, but I can't seem to find the same ones (at least with 9xxm chips). )=

Well all the US stores have the big black friday sales the day after Thanksgiving so maybe try to hold off until then. Maybe someone will have a sale around halloween trying to push out old inventory with some stupid tagline like "prices so low it's spooky' ha

Yeah, they've started mimicing them over here. I don't tend to find them much help, though (stuff usually sells out too quickly for me to think it through...or just too quickly for me full stop).

I'm not sure how practical importing from the US'd be for me (the last time I did, paying off the VAT/duty was a nightmare), but thanks anyway.
