Computer Acting Slow
hello, i guess i'm having a problem with my pc being slow today i did a clean install of windows 7 64bit home premium, althrough the day i was installing windows updates & for most of the day dwnloading games.

i opened my webrowser and its normaly quick opening but it took its time and did not load up..
then my mouse lags and freezes stuck in a spot i hit clr alt delt after a few seconds i get security panel i click task manager.

first think i noticed is csrss.exe READ i/o is 800,000 bytes
i first think no not virus in a clean install i only use known programs that are safe and i don't goto shady sites.

then i thought with this high of read maybe its slowing my computer down?

so i restart my computer atm i see no slow downs when opening pages, my computer, internet browser.

probs - nonresponsive, mouse frozen, HIGH i/o byte reads

Hard to think i have a virus, it being a clean install using

ccleaner
norton
steam
origin
google chrome
geforce experience
win rar
java
adobe flash

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/csrss/

csrss.exe is a process which is registered as a Trojan. This Trojan allows attackers to access your computer from remote locations, steal passwords, Internet banking and personal data. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system. We strongly recommend that you run a FREE registry scan to identify csrss.exe related errors.

Get rid of it as fast as possible. Also once done change password to your steam account and email account.

There are version of the files that are legit and come from Microsoft, but doesn't mean its real. All it could do is take the same name. Easier to hide that way.

Zuka, wrong.

csrss.exe is a OS app (of Windows itself) that manages the windows and threads for programs. It's location is in C:\Windows\System32. Only if it isn't there, it might be a virus.

Now tell me the odds of a Windows original executable being a virus in a completely fresh OS install.

Just because its a Windows original executable doesn't mean the virus can't take its name. But ok clean install, how old is the stuff you use by the way?
Get rid of Norton; if u want a good paid version AV suite, I highly suggest Kaspersky or ESET

Or give Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) a try as far as free one; via Windows Updates > Optional.

Also install, update and then run manually every so often; apps like
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free Edition (do not activate a trial)
Spybot S&D 2.xx (do no install TeaTimer, or add to Windows Security Center)
SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition
^Install these AFTER your main AV suite. They will get along fine. However some AV wait deny installation if it detects these installed sometimes.

One thing is; since u did a clean OS install, you are most likely missing various drivers needed for the system, regardless of everything being ok within Device Manager or not.

Go to chipset maker sites and download lately device drivers for your hardware; such as Motherboard Chipset, GPU, USB 3.0 if u have, and also LAN/WiFi adapter. OS may have built-in drivers, but they are usually not the best for YOUR setup. Avoid drivers from Windows Updates, u can simply hide those if they show up as "Important"

Also when an OS is clean and u are going through doing the Windows Updates, the system can slow down a bit due to caching as well as things like .NET Framework, which when is installed and doing updates, it will run in background and tie up CPU/RAM while it finishes it's optimization process, which can take quite a long time to complete.

It would really help if u post your OS+version as well as Hardware Specs.

Might be good idea to run diagnostics software on your RAM and HDD(s) too, to help ensure those are error-free.

After a while of having your OS new again; would be good idea to do a defrag (do not do that if using an SSD; only do that for any HDDs u have). And do defrag every once in a while (like once a month)

Depends on ISP and Region; most in USA offer their customers free access to full versions of ones from McAfee or Norton usually; both of which are not all that great. Even free ones like AVG or Avast would be better.

MSE isn't bad, but it's a very simple interface and most seem to think because it looks minimal that it's scanning, or what it catches isn't as good as others, but that's just not true.

If you have Win8/8.1/10 then u already have MSE built-in, via Windows Defender, which on those OS is the full-blown MSE.

Norton, that's the problem. Also I don't see why you need Adobe Flash player, Google Chrome has the Flash API built right into it. That's why when you use Chrome you never get asked to download Flash Player. Unless you are using another browser, which case I'm wrong
Download Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and run a full scan with the latest definitions, run a custom scan and select every checkbox and every drive.

U still will always need to install "Adobe Flash for Other Browsers" cause that is what Firefox and Steam Client uses.
