Geforce GTX 770 HUGE FPS LAG! Please help!
Every single game I play get's 5-8 frames per second, I used to always get high fps on every game.

It started yesterday and I updated my graphics card and then everything was fine.
Today I tried playing some games and I was experiencing the same problems.
I have no idea why this is happening, can anyone please help?

Specs:
MEMORY: 8GB
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 770
CPU: i5-4670k 3.40 GHZ
PSU: 650W

UPDATE:
TEMP OF CPU IS VERY HIGH WHEN IDLING

My guess is that either your system is getting too hot and causing your graphics card to overheat and throttle the core clock, or your using the video output from your motherboard which would be the integrated Intel® HD Graphics 4600 instead of the video output from your graphics card.

Use msi afterburner or evga precision and check your temps and core clock. Is the clock much lower when gaming? Check the temps too if it's overheating.

My gpu's temp is 64C
& my cpu's average is 60C.
Both are idling and are way higher than I'm used to.

Use some gpu monitoring software like gpu-z[www.techpowerup.com] and do something that usually makes the fps drop or run a benchmark etc. See if the temperatures get too high or the core clock randomly starts dropping off.

maybe you downloaded some free software that had spyware or junkware on it that slows down your computer. did you install your chipset drivers?

1. Set your monitor resolution (right-click desktop / screen resolution)

GTX 770 optimal resolution would be running at 1080p (1920x1080). If your attempting to run higher, you may run into some lag, but that is it's sweet spot, set to that and you should be able to play in high to ultra settings on most games without any lag.

2. Make sure you have DVI or HDMI connected to the graphics card (not Intel Graphics - which also has a port at the back of some motherboards).

3. Install the latest drivers / software.

I suggest using GeForce Experience Software:
http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience

Download, install, add your game directories and scan for your games. It will offer you optimal settings to apply to most games. Apply and also update your graphic card drivers under that if you don't already have the latest version installed.

4. If you believe you have malware slowing your system, scan and clean.

I suggest using Spybot - Search & Destroy 2 (free version / just manual update and run):

Run a scan with Malware Bytes Anti-Malware. I've heard about things like this before. Bitcoin miners run in the background and consume huge system resources, mainly GPU and CPU.

I removed 15 objects from my pc, restarted it, temp went down, tried to run a game, temp dramatically rose up and caused heavy lag.

What was the temp when you start to run a game? Usually the 70-80C range under load should be fine. If it's much higher, then try doing some cleaning and dusting on the card.

Monitor your gpu core clock too if it's using it's fullest power while running a game. I had lag problem on my 770 before because my core clock was running much lower than it's fullest power. Reinstalling the nvidia driver fixed the issue for me.

Make sure it was a full scan with the latest update. Go to custom scan, select every drive and checkbox and PUP amd PUM set them both to 'Treat Detection as Malware' I get the feeling you only did a quick scan?

does the game lag when u move ur mouse, or does it lag all time with low fps..?
if this is an old computer and no cleaning has ever been done, turn off computer and uplug from wall socket.
clean dust from fan and inside pc chassis.
clean heat sink and fan.
remove thermal paste.
reapply thermal paste.
install heat sink and fan.
check all power connectors (20+4 main power, 4(+4) auxilliary power, fan )
boot computer and monitor temperatures using: speedfan, hwinfo, cpuid hardware monitor, or speccy.

---
if this is a new computer and/or you suspect malre infestation:
open task manager and manually close any 'suspicious program' that you know.
(shortcut in windows 8: %windir%\system32\taskmgr.exe /7 )

run your antivirus 'full system scan' and reboot.
optional, manually delete any program file/folder that are installed without your knowledge. the time stamp will tell you if you have installed them yourself or not.
run ccleaner including its registry cleaning mode and reboot.
monitor temperatures using: speedfan, hwinfo, cpuid hardware monitor, or speccy.
