300$ Keyboard, which switches?
I've wanted one of these super high end custom keyboards for years. I've finally decided I'm getting one tonight. I know everything that I want, but I don't know what switches I want.

I've typed on a lot of keyboards, and I KNOW what I like to type on.
I want a switch that is extremely firm and produces a loud click. I want it to be hard, but then give away to a loud click.

What switch is this?
Thanks.

$300 for a keyboard sounds like overkill. Cherry is arguably the greatest manufacturer of microswitches in the world. They sell their own low-profile keyboard with Red MXs (most-common and recommended type) for $80 with free shipping on Amazon. Even besides them, the usual tourney keyboard is that Razer one that usually runs $90-$150 depending on whether you want dampened microswitches.

EDIT: Red MX doesn't have a loud click IIRC, you would want Blue MX or Brown MX. Those feel stiffer, though.

EDIT 2: Some Best Buy stores have gaming keyboard sections where you can type on Cherry MX microswitch keyboards for free as long as you don't mind driving down there.

MX Greens are stiffer than blues, you might like those. WASD makes custom keyboards with them. Otherwise you can go for buckling springs, like a vintage model M or Unicomp Classic.

Best buy doesn't exactly have a vast selection for anything that they sell(aside from stuff like smart phones, TVs, and cameras). This includes mechanical keyboards.
For anything relating to PCs, Micro Center is always the better choice(provided that you're near one of the stores).

I know that, I only brought it up because I just went there today looking for something else and was surprised to see them. The other Best Buy stores I went to didn't have mechanical keyboards on display.
