Overclocking monitor ?
Hello ,I want to overclock my 60 hz monitor to 75-80 hz. I have a gaming computer but my monitor is 60 hz, so the question is would it damage my computer like motherboard, graphic card ram etc. or would it only damage my monitor ? also if it damage my monitor will it damage physically like going on fire or will it just stop working?

It won't damage any of your other components. What monitor do you have? A regular multi-input IPS display won't overclock past 60Hz without skipping frames.

No it wont damage and is easy to oc, immediatly u will see instability by distortion on screen.

Use a program called cru.exe (custom resolution utility) and raise refresh rate 1 mhz at a time till you see distortions then lower it back to where it was clear. very simple. Got mine to 67 hz

Hi,mine went up to 75 hz with nvidia control panel if i do higher than that i get an alert missing input signal from monitor.I observed that when i change tabs the screen comes much slower like in 2-3 seconds is it normal ?

Just because you got it up to 75 Hz it doesn't mean the monitor is actually displaying all these frames. This is what I mean by frame skipping. You need to actually test it out and dial back the OC to whatever the maximum amount of frames it's actually capable of displaying.
Check this: http://www.testufo.com/#test=frameskipping

"The message "VALID" does not confirm frame skipping."

Reading instructions is a fantastic skill
i managed to overclock it stably to 75 hz using the nvidia app

I used CRU to overclock my old AOC from 60 to 75, I just ended up getting another monitor which does 180 and has freesync.

most 60hz monitors can go to 75-90hz
but the panels may not be fast enough to change colors and may get blurry with higher refresh

better off just getting a 120+hz display and using freesync/gsync instead

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
