hdcp is required to play/watch protected content
As far as digital content provided through a PS3/PS4 (such as Amazon, Hulu, Netflix) that is a non-issue, as even on a non-HDTV via Analog Connections, that digital content is still playable without issues. HDCP is mostly a requirement for Bluray and 3D related playback. So for example; on an older analog TV with PS3/PS4, you could play DVDs, but not Bluray. As the TV /Monitor with require a Digital Connection, HDCP Compliant and support a certain minimum screen resolution for things like Bluray playback.
If you going to hookup a Game Console & PC via a single monitor, use the HDMI for the Game Console and DVI for your PC. Then you can run them both at the same time if u wish and just switch the Input mode via the monitors buttons, remote, menu systems.
Otherwise the only other method for hooking up a Game Console would be via an RCA Analog connection via a TV, as Monitors generally will not have those unless they are a Monitor w/ Built-in TV Tuner.
Get a display that has at least; 1x DVI + 1x HDMI
Most decent screens should have; 1x VGA, DVI, HDMI and DP
And as such I'd look at screens that are no less than about 23 - 24 inches that have those ports and is 1080p. Screens below this aren't really made any longer, or lack such support.
