I only have one HDMI port? is DVI HD? thanks
thank you!
DVI usually does not have the digital audio that HDMI has, but somehow they figured out how to do that and even my older GTX 550 Ti was able to do both video and audio through DVI to HDMI cable.
My monitor uses VGA, and it's connected with an adaptor to the DVI port on my Nvidia card. There are 2 other ports there (hdmi and displayport).
Just checking: Does it mean I need a monitor with hdmi support in order to use this? And then I just plug it in and set it up in windows? I assume the my pc is set to user primarly my nvidia card. I checked the setup on the startup, and I couldn't find the word "BIOS" anywhere (it looks very modern for those setups). I did find something realted to video that was set to "PCI Express" instead of "Onboard", the only other option. Maybe that's it? lol
Sorry for my lack of knowledge and thanks for your help and patience!
In regards to the BIOS thing, you might be able to do it without BIOS now that I just don't know about, but as far as I know you have to enter BIOS like this and change the settings here. I will link a guide to enter BIOS below as it is different for every computer. That sounds about right but I will go look in my BIOS and see if I can find the exact words for the PCI/PCIE settings. I will edit in a sec.
Edit: Ok, so I looked I found the settings that I originally changed and took a picture with my phone. I can send it to you but I am not sure of the rules on this forums; can you post links here? If not I can PM it to you on reddit or whatever you want. Anyways, I have an Asus motherboard so my BIOS looks a little different but it should still be very similar and should help you out very much. Let me know

if you are using a vga monitor yet throw it away and get a newer one
they are not expensive
(just make sure the responce time is 5ms or lower, else it will look ghostly)
Also, you're allowed to post images. Use imgur or something like that.
