Steam client service causing slow startup? [solved]
when I leave the steam client service enable, restarting or booting my computer is very slow. Unless I enable it manually everytime i want to start steam. (I DO NOT have steam running at startup).

The problem is that when I do this it can/has caused compatibility issues with my games.
So I'm either stuck with slow startup or compatibility problems. any suggestions? Any steam settings or things that I could do to allow it to still run without being disabled? Without causing slow startup.
I have
Windows 8.1
8GB ram,

if you need anymore info on my specs let me know.:epicstickman:

I have steam always disabled to boot with windows and don't have or have heard of anyone having compatibility issues with games it should make no difference if steam starts with windows boot up or manually it's just a program.

About the only fix for slow boot up is switch to an ssd for boot drive.

Ps, the reason I stopped steam from starting at boot up was because it slows booting up down.

Do you mean having steam enabled at startup? If so that's not my issue

when you have Steam set to start with windows, it can take a while to boot, depending on how fast all your subsystems are and how many other things you have loading at start-up.

If you are having slow boot problem from the client service alone, it's something not set up correctly on your computer.
I'm talking about msconfig<Services<steam client service. I have to disable it before shutdown, then re-enable it.
Any ideas what could be causing this Silicon?

really hard to say without having my hands on the box...

did you install Steam originally with the "run as admin" option? this is not the same as being on an admin account.
