CPU Cooling question
I have a i5-4670k CPU & a MSI Z97-Gaming 5 motherboard and I was wondering do I need water-cooling to over clock my Cpu to about 4.5-4.7 Ghz and keep the CPU around 60 degrees celsius? Should I get the Corsair H100 or 105 or could I use an air cooler like a Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E?

You should use a water cooler (if you really want to oc to 4,7Ghz)...

and if you have the money buy the 105

And, if you chose not to have a water cooler, the Noctua NH-D14 is a big ass tower cooler that would do the job nicely. It performs as well as any liquid cooler but the downside, is you have to have a big full tower case and low clearance ram. I have msi z97 gaming 7 mobo and intel i5 4690k, this cooler is awesome, better than any water cooler i've used, but definitely need a really big case to fit it.
The watercooler is much more quit...

I woulda thought so too, but look up the Noctua NH-D14, it's fans are virtually silent! I want to try to buy more of there fans to replace my case fans because they are the only ones making any kind of noise. I have a coolermaster storm trooper, and it's fines are okay, but not nearly as quality as noctuas.
If the Fan fits in the case, the TO can use the fan, but is the fan good for these extrem oc?

"2. Liquid cooling is really still air cooling. The only difference is where the heat exchange takes place. With air, the cooling fins are inside the case, and the hot air is exhausted out the back or top of the case. In liquid cooling the exchange takes place in the radiator."
They still have fans and whatnot, but if you do get liquid cooling, make sure the radiaor is quality as well. I wonder if noctua does liquid cooling?

Another review from a big OC. This is a great cooler, considering Case size and ram profile.

yeah but this fact isn't really precised...
Because the Water cooling systems are working more efficient than the air cooler and the fans at the water cooling system are not comparable with air fans...

But it looks like the noctua has more power i expected :)

What you say is true my friend. Water cooling is great, I just wanted to offer another option. After using this cooler, I don't think i'll get any other anytime soon. Although it's big, it's much easier to install than say...the stock heatsink. at least I think so.
What case do you have and where would you mount the radiator/fan if you go water cooling?
You should build your own water cooler :d2tidehunter:

How are they not comparable? You'd use SP optimized fans for a radiator, same as you'd use in any air-cooled heatsink. The SP120L fans in the Corsair 240mm rads are not more efficient; they're just budget versions of the retail SP120 fans, but spin much faster. They're also much noisier, especially in comparison to the near silent NF-P14 and NF-P12 used in the NH-D14.

The results of both are comparable; the Noctua will be quieter, but the H105 will outperform it at higher loads.

ractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case & I would mount the fan/radiator on the top vent

Oh, in that case (no pun intended) don't go for the Noctua NH-D14, it's wayy to big to fit in there.
It should fit as long as there's no fan installed in the side panel. It's a big heatsink but it's only as tall as a regular 140mm cooler. It's around 160mm tall with the fan installed, I believe.

I have a Cooler Master Storm Trooper full tower, and it just barely fits in here with 2 inches of clearence, even with the protruding side panel giving it that extra inch.
