MSI GTX 960 Cooling Problem
So, whenever i'm playing a game, doesn't really matter what game, I tend to stay at 60 fps, no matter what i'm playing, but i'm constantly overheating. I know that MSI cards keep the fans off until it reaches 60 C, but it still overheats. I downloaded MSI Afterburner, and MSI Gaming App, to monitor the fans, but it doesn't seem to matter. Any suggestions?

When you say it's "overheating", does it actually reach the the thermal limit or are you just exaggerating?

Not exaggerating, it shuts itself down, monitor goes black and I have to restart my rig once it cools down
I think it's time to clean the dust out of the computer. You probably have a bad dust build up.
Are you absolutely sure its your GPU?
Did you enable the OSD for the GPU temp in Afterburner so you can keep an eye on it while you're in game?

Unless the GPU is faulty, or you have absolutely terrible airflow in your case it shouldnt be doing that.

If the display driver crashes it can cause the monitor to black out as well.

If you arent gaming with Vsync enabled, you could give that a try as well as it should lower the temps a little bit.

Well I did some digging, and I've determined that the problem is really my bad PSU. But that's a whole 'nother problem, I have no idea what i'm looking for in a power supply. I have a

500 Watt - AC 120/230 V (50/60 Hz)

I know there's more to it than just "more wattage = better", but I don't know the specifics.
what brand/model power supply?
if it has a 120/230v switch then its a very old psu design (passive pfc) and should be replaced
Ok, heres my full specs

(Sorry, I couldn't find the brand/model of it). It was formerly a CyberPowerPC GUA250, the only thing i've upgraded was the GPU. I went from a Geforce GT 610, to the GTX 960. But that makes me think, could it also be the CPU overheating? Playing more demanding games without upgrading the CPU could be the problem. At this point i've narrowed my choices to a problem with the GPU, insufficient PSU, or that I need to upgrade my CPU. Sorry if this doesn't help, but yeah it is a relatively old build.
That power supply is a POS. Sounds like you are overloading it whenever you start putting your system through heavy loads (gaming) and it's shutting the system down. Your old GT 610 only needed a 300W PSU, the 960 needs a minimum of 400W. Although your PSU is 500W that doesn't mean it's actually putting out 500W. If you can't find the name of it and it came with that prebuilt PC then it's a POS and doesn't have enough power to run your system with your new GPU.

Upgrade to a 500W or so 80+ PSU and you'l be fine.

No prob man
gtx 960 is a 120w gpu
a quality 420w psu would be ok in an amd build
but odds are that 500w is overrated by alot

if its a thermaltake that came with the case replace it

the 760g chipset will hold back fx cpu
its designed for aii/pii and modded to run fx at nerfed specs
